Trackpad totally dead, any ideas why.

Hi Guys,

I've got a A1398, MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 GHz Core i7 - Mid 2014 system with 2 issues: a bad battery and a totally disabled trackpad.

I've tried all possible troubleshooting and diagnosing I could with no luck.

I ordered battery and new trackpad and swapped them both, but the trackpad still not working.

All the settings inside the computer checked. In the end, I took a backup and re-installed the OS, but the problem remains!

Can anybody help me with this issue?

The cable looks clean and I don't see any damage. Even still this cable is likely the problem. You'll need to see if a replacement fixes things.

Ok, actually I got a trackpad without cable. I don't have any one to test with. I will se if I can find one. So you thing this is not a motherboard issue?

Don't think it's a logic board issue.

The cable is not passive (see the chips on it) I suspect this is the issue you're facing here a burnt chip on the cable.

Carefully disconnect the trackpad ribbon cable and take a set of clear pictures of the connector ends (both the ribbon & logic board) and post them here for us to see. It sounds like you have a damaged connector.
