power surging and video disapearing

I have been working on this computer for a couple of days the HDD has bad sectors but the main problem is that when I power it on as it boots up it seems like it is loosing power or is being switched off repeatedly. Do you have any ideas what would cause this? I have tried pulling the ram one stick at a time, pulled the HDD reseated the processor and replaced the heat sink compound.

Integrated video card may have overheated causing contact to partially separate from motherboard. Try to re-seat using enough heat to melt solder and regain contact.

I had the same problem. I thought it was the processor overheating it turned out it was the video card. The thermo pad has become thin thus not making good contact with radiator. Replace with one of appropriate thickness and you should be good. Refurbished unit....

Check for a loose screw contacting the motherboard or between the motherboard and the modem card, especially if it was a refurbished model
