Battry not detected after screen replacement

Battry not detected after screen replacement

Replaced cracked screen on Surface pro 3 and now the battery isn't detected, tried doing updates in windows, it will sit and restart every 15mins to do a firmware update but will never complete and continually restart, tried uninstalling the driver from device manager for the battery, tried just letting it charge, tried the power button and volume up button for 15 seconds or longer.

any other suggestions?

Are you using an original charger? Did you make sure the pin layer thingy for the battery and LCD connector are there and are not upside down?

had to purchase a new charger, it is a microsoft brand surface pro 3 charger, as far as im aware there's only one pin layer for the LCD connector not for the battery. if i am wrong let me know.

Actually the battery one does. Because the battery connector and LCD connector on the board both have a bridge connector that is supposed to be placed.

The battery one uses a different one so they are not the same notches and pinouts.

Hello,

I was able to find the solution to my battery not detected problem. There is a small piece that goes between the battery ribbon and the board connection. After disconnecting the LCD/glass, that's when I noticed the extra little piece that should have gone in. Thankfully, I saved everything from the repair, reinstalled that piece and had no problem with battery detection after that. Hope this helps.

It's just a bridge metal plastic connector that goes between the battery connector pins on the logic board and the battery ribbon cable itself.

The LCD connector on the logic board has one too.

Funnily enough I might actually have spares of this from a few cracked surface pro 3s with no screen.

@benjamen50 Hi Ben, I know your comment is over 3 years old but I was wondering if you would happen to still possibly have any spare battery connector bridges for the Surface Pro 3? I appear to have lost one in transition from old battery to new replacement from iFixit and I want to make sure I can find a legitimate one and not a cheap knockoff from AliExpress or something. Thanks!

could be that when the screen was replaced they did not reconnect the battery cord thus not being able to be detected you should contact the ones who repaired it
