Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse battery replacement

Looking for information on how to replace the rechargeable battery in the device.

Although Logitech advertises that the battery lasts up to a month, mine are lucky to last two days. I'd consider putting in a higher rated, or at least better quality battery if possible.

Any thoughts on this? If anyone knows the specs of the battery I can try a replacement ...

Thanks - I think I have a source for something around that size. Hopefully it's just the battery that's the issue and not the charge unit.

I went thru the replacement process and it came back to life but not I am stuck with it dead again. I think it is the charge unit in my case let me know if there are any insights in 2020 :)

Hello. Trying to contribute for those having problems removing the skid pads without destroying them: using a heat blower on a 50 Celsius (very low) and preheating it for 30 seconds makes them easier to remove, using an x-acto knife with care. You can use a hair dryer but then have to be careful since is it a lot hotter. Hope to have helped someone.

Old thread but thought I’d contribute: There are screws underneath each of the four skate pads of the mouse. Peel those off carefully, unscrew, and the top portion of the mouse comes off easily. A replacement battery can be found online (e.g., ebay, Amazon). The original is glued to the mouse so peel it off carefully. Once replaced put it back together. Re-apply the skate pads.

I agree,however, the skate pads are difficult to remove in one piece. I don't see replacement pads available anywhere. Save your time and buy a new mouse.

I just did this on mine. One of the four corner pads came apart when I tried peeling it off, with one side the smooth surface and foam, and the other side the foam and then the sticky part that was attached to the bottom of the mouse.

The mouse body is slightly hinged, with a clip in the back but the front end (where the charger port is) just swings away from the main body.

Inside, the battery replacement was super-straightforward, except that as noted the old battery is glued pretty well to the plastic mouse body. Just use a screwdriver or something as a lever and try to not crack the plastic, slow steady increasing pressure, and it’ll come unglued.

I’m going to just try and superglue the slippery foot I broke back together again.

I suspect that will mean it won’t come off the same way in the future and this is the last time I can replace the battery, but who knows. I’ve found replacement feet online but since this model is discontinued, hard to say if they’ll remain available.

Sorry for the lack of pics from the inside but once you get the feet off, unscrew it, and pry the top cover half off the bottom part (which is where all the important bits are) it’s very easy.

I'm not for certain but I took mine apart without breaking it and the battery is superglued literally

I think I seen a 500mwh 3.7v 1.9wh Lithium Ion 2inches by 2.5 inches long rechargeable battery. basically the size of battery like this in my old mouse Logitech MX

How did you get it apart? Would it be possible to silence the switches so they don't click without negatively impacting overall functionality?

yes you can, simply by placing down a piece of soft sticky foam tape, usually gaming mice come with something like this but preinstalled. The foam will block out noise since I have done this to a few mice. Here is a link to what the tape is. just don't place a lot, and if you have to you can cut a little bit of the foam off the match the width from top of the section you removed when its installed again.

Also, its easy but hard to not break the actual "button lever" that you press to make contact with the button. Those break off easily and once they break, it will be more work. unfortunately I don't have this mouse anymore so I can't be very specific on scew type or placement, but the screws are located under the mouse pads on the bottom of the mouse, if you decide to take it apart I suggest possibly getting spare mouse pads from Logitech support.

Hopefully a new battery will hold the charge and eliminate the need to be constantly on the charging cable.

there are probably new listings going up every few months

My original battery in my MX Anywhere 2 died & wouldn't hold a charge for longer than 20 hours.

I tried two replacements from Amazon (650 & 600mAh) they lasted about 18 - 20 days & wouldn't take a recharge.

I bought a 500mAh one, it ran for about 17 days before needing a recharge, but at least it took a fresh charge.

This is the only wireless mouse I have ever purchased (The rest have been "salvaged" from e-waste) I am sure the OEM battery actually ran for far longer before depletion & compared to how long a standard wireless mouse runs without needing new batteries I'm hard pushed to see the benefit of the extra expenditure.
