I combined this guide with the hard drive (main) replacement (iFixit) and one from OWC to add another drive using their Data Doubler in place of the DVD drive. Net result is 3-1 TB SSDs in a 2011 27" iMac. Also upgraded RAM to 32 GB. Running Monterey 12.3.1 via OpenCore Legacy Patcher.

When reassembling the camera, is there a preferred and/or recommended adhesive for the grips removed in Step 4?

Tried installing these on MacPro5,1 today. Very disappointed. Sled does not slide into place correctly, and any attempt to nudge it into place only scratches the carrier.

Going back to OWC sled to mount SSD drives.

Although I ordered the screen for an A1278 MacBook Unibody Aluminum, the screen glass was marked as a MacBook Pro. The iSight/WiFi /BT cable was about an inch longer than the Macbook one and took a bit of creative re-routing, but everything works fine.

I have done this twice now - once to install a 80 gb 7200rpm drive which promptly failed... <sigh>. I disassembled it and added a 60 Gb ATA SSD, which seems to be working fine. Installing Leopard now.

The "two 3mm" screws are actually 4mm and the 4mm (orange) is the 3mm

When adding second drive, be sure that the power supply cables are secured out of the way to allow drive to be seated correctly. If cables are in the way, screw holes do not quite line up with antenna plate.
