Mac Mini Mid 2011 fan At full speed although says 0rpm
I recently purchased a mac mini mid 2011 on the cheap because it came without a harddrive.
Its currently running the macOS Sierra public beta off a 2tb external hdd which is working surprisingly well however the fan is spinning at full blast which is generating alot of exhaust noise.
Ive opened it up and noticed that the sata cable that connects to the internal drive is also missing.
My question is, Would replacing this cable and installing an internal HDD fix the fan issue or does the fan itself need to be replaced?
Ive tried using smc fan control and similar apps to no avail and get a RPM reading of 0 from the fan.
Ive also run AHT and returned the following error: "4M0T/1/40000002: Exhaust - 0"
Many thanks in advance for replies.
