Running with disconnected battery?

If I open the machine and disconnect the internal battery and then re-assemble the machine, will it run with AC power connected? I don't want to use the battery but want to preserve its life...

I'm not positive about this model but all the earlier MacBooks that I know of will run just fine without a battery. I see no reason for this to do any different.

FOR BETTER STORAGE discharge the battery ~50% so it doesn't completely drain to where it won't recharge.
