Help with Power Port Replacement?

I have a mid-2013 Macbook Air (A1465) that needs a replacement power port. Apple is evil and is saying that the damage is accidental and not covered under my AppleCare (!) and will cost $850 to repair. Ifixit.com doesn't seem to address this, and my system is virtually unusable at this time (I can sometimes get it to charge but it's becoming less and less possible over time). I've tried everything I can find to do online. I have a good local non-authorized service guy who can help if I get the part, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Help? Thanks!

I bet first that they are referring to the I/O board which is featured in this repair guide.

Second, I bet that they found liquid damage on that board which is why they refused to warranty it. Or not? If not, what caused your warranty to be void?

If it was liquid damage indeed, damage could be on the main board, not just I/O board. Or even both.

So history is important and you'll need to provide it if you need more help from us to determine what may be wrong.
