Will the apple warranty will be lost if I upgrade the ssd?

Hi!

If i will change the stock SSD in my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (mid 2014), will the apple warranty (such as applecare) be void for all the hardware, or just about the new ssd?

For example, if my screen (or touchpad, or keyboard..) breaks after i changed my SSD, will the warranty be valid?

Thank you

What do you plan to upgrade it with? As far as I know, only Apple SSDs are available for this machine and the upgrades are pulls if you can find one.

I think that within an year there will be third party replacements.

So far this is what I know: The Samsung SSD's MZ-JPU512T/0A6 - 512 GB (SSUAX) & MZ-KPU1TOT/0A6 - 1.0 TB (SSUAX) will work in these systems. I hear Samsung is planing on introducing a 2TB drive later this year using there new technology.

Dan - that is the OEM part. A couple are for sale on eBay but I don't see where a new one can be bought outright.

Yes! These are OEM parts but for some reason they are getting out to the wilds ;-} I was just listing the Samsung P/N's so people have a reference so one can search function for them.

Dan- water spills, I now have a 768 for sale on eBay, parted out because of a water spill. Checked it out on a OWC Envoy Pro.

According to the warranty terms, Apple will not be for damages "caused" by unauthorized upgrades and retina MacBook pros cannot be upgraded normally by design.

So in theory Apple has to prove that the malfunction is caused by this upgrade then can they deny warranty.

I don't know what they will say in reality.
