Is there a better way to reattach the Display cable?

I recently upgraded my HDD, and when I went to put my display cable back into it's port on the board, it has a blank screen and occasionally a fan runs fast. The LED troubleshooting lights only have 3 out of the 4 lit up, indicating a problem with the LCD display. I get a chime upon boot, but the fans and the HDD remain active. I checked out the Logic board and it does not have any damage. I can only assume that it is the cable itself since the pins on the MLB side somehow get slightly bent whenever I try to insert to the board.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, because obviously I am doing something wrong when I insert the cable in the port and the pins get bent. Is there a better way to reattach the cable to the port without damaging the pins on the cable?

Did you ever find an answer to this question? I have the same problem.

I found out it was better to attach the LVDS cable carefully to the logic board - and then to the top of the LCD. No way I can with my big hands can insert it again correctly from an angle.

where do you get a replacement cable, hey?

No the cable is in a socket. You need to remove the black tape.

Where can a replacement cable be sourced from? Apple doesn't appear to sell just the cable. Who sells just the cable?

I had to get someone in with much smaller hands to do this. The cable length is to short for a full grown man. This thing must be assembled by 4' 10" small Chinese women.

UPDATE

Really, I got a tech with much smaller hands and I held the display while they inserted the cable.

Was this really accepted as an answer??

Well it didn’t help me… but it did make me chuckle as I have the same stumpy fingers and lack of patience…
