Can I fit a hybrid hard drive?

I've just ordered a late 2012 quad-core i7 Mac Mini. Since they just refreshed the range, I couldn't upgrade anything and it is the stock 4Gb, 1Tb HDD model.

I know I can add a 2nd SSD but I don't really want to manage my files across separate HDD+SSD and I'm not too sure about setting up a true Fusion system. So I wondered about just replacing the default drive with a hybrid drive which internally manages moving files around.

Is there any reason OSX wouldn't like this, or would even be aware the disk was doing anything special?

Swapping out your HD for a SSHD is not a problem on this series.

The just released '14 series I can't tell you for sure. We'll need to wait for the IFIXIT tear down team to crack it open to tell us for sure.
