How to clean the carbs

Hi I'm new to motorcycles. I just got a 1993 Kawasaki ex 500. The guy I got the bike from said he knows the carbs need to be cleaned. Can someone please tell me how to do this. ? This is my first bike so I have no clue what to do. And a repair shop wants 400 and up. And I don't have that. To spend right now. Any help would be great thanks.

Chris Hilliard, take a look on here. different bike, same idea. You can find step-by-step instructions on here. I'd suggest you get a carb overhaul kit and get to it. take your time, it is not as easy as it seems. The numbers for your Kawasaki carbs are 15002-1492 LH 15002-1493 RH. Armed with that you should find a rebuild kit relatively easy. Hope this helps, good luck.
