Add second ssd to new mac pro... Possible?

The two graphic card "boards in the 2013 Mac Pro look pretty much identical, just except for this one ssd slot on one of them.

Would it be possible to replace the board without the ssd slot by one that has the slot and thus, add a second ssd?

You might give it a try. The only real problem looks to be the location of the two screws. Which are in the opposite side of the two boards. For the rest they seem to be identical except for the slot for flash storage.

Anandtech looked at the PCIe map <http://www.anandtech.com/show/7603/mac-p...> and found the most likely arrangement to allow only a single SSD controller. There must be a difference in the mega connector pinout between the two cards to route the PCIe lanes to one side only.

But don't let that stop you from trying it out and reporting back if it worked or not!
