Firewire Ports Dead Not Working

Is there any hope to get these working. I have all the software fixes possible. I know the ports are on the mother board but I am not sure how to repair them.

Have you tried a different Ext FireWire HD cable? Its' possible the cable is bad. If it's within the system you could be facing a costly repair (logic board). There's really nothing you can fix here.

As an alternative method you could try connecting your iBook to a different Mac using the Ethernet connection between them running the iBook in Target Mode.
