Being the only physical button for power, lock and screenshots the button has become more unresponsive to gentle presses and now requires a great pressure to activate it. Is there any way to fix it before it's too late?

Hi Damien,
It could either be the (visible) button that needs to be replaced or the power button switch (small circuit board). Both can be ordered, e.g. on ebay (button and switch).
However, before buying anything, I would check which part is actually needed.
To check the switch: Remove the switch/circuit board of the power button and lay it on the table (the contact or "eye" on top). Take a pencil and use the side of the eraser, slightly pushing on the contact several times. You need to hear a "click" or at least "feel" the "click" to be sure that the switch is still ok. If it is still ok, I would inspect the power button. Your issue seems to point to a worn out piece, either the switch or the button.

Actually, i dont have my nexus 4 Bill as i bought it from a person on ebay.
so i have no official warranty and i live in india. so no customer care here.
i am facing same issue with my phone, power button not responding well.
Can u guide me what should i do?

Hi Hitesh, I recommend that you follow the two guides mentioned above. Are you able to order the replacement parts from India? The repair does not seem to be very difficult.
Hi, I got the same problem as darmien, but i didn't undertood one thing.. The circuit board of the power button lays on the plastic midframe?

Well I had the same problem, But I tried all the Methods, But in the End It was Just Hardware Problem , And My Phone was out of Warranty So I fixed it By my self, It is Quite easy, I used this Guide..
