Is it possible to teardown a water damaged display assembly?

Is it possible to teardown the screen assembly and dry it out? IE remove the actual LCD and glass from the laptop lid?

Have a water damaged mid 2012 13" MBP, non-retina display. The CPU was overloading on Kernel Task (~300%!) but a 4 hour bake in a 40 deg celcius (100F) has fixed that :)

The display appears to have had water seep between the glossy glass surface and the actual LCD. I have varying shades of grey streaking across the display. No dead pixels or anything, airport / isight / backlight / everything is working ok, but massive streaks. Looks rather trippy.

Any help would be much appreciated!

The liquid is actually not between the glass and LCD, as a matter of fact it is between the layers of the LCD itself. The LCD has several layers with different properties that allow the image to display. The last layer in the back of an LCD is typically a reflector, or silver sheet of material that keeps light inside the LCD. If you were to access and remove it, you will find dried water stains. The next layers are a sequence of transparent and reflective polarized sheets similar to the first one. Chances are they all have dried liquid stains right up until you get to the last layer before hitting the physical liquid crystal portion. I have personally disassembled LCDs and cleaned them with 99% alcohol and microfibre cloth, it CAN be done, but you need sterile gloves, a dust free room, and lots of time and patience. The trick is knowing when you get to the last layer, because if you go too deep you will damage the display itself. It's usually easier to just replace the screen if the price is within reason.
