Why are number keys 1-9 not working?

I just replaced the uppercase on my Macbook Pro with a unibody piece from iFixit. On installation, everything went smoothly and the computer booted normally. However, when prompted to enter my password, I realized that certain numbers were not working. I used a wireless keyboard to gain access, and then proceeded to test EVERY key on the keyboard only to conclude that the number keys 1-9 and their subsequent SHIFT+ commands are not working, while all of the other keys remain fine. Any suggestions as to what to do? Is it a system problem or a hardware problem? The Upper Body is brand new from iFixit, just got it in the mail today.

Review the part numbers you might have gotten the wrong keyboard. Also compare your old keyboard with the new one do the keys have the same function key layout and the keys look the same and same placement. You might also have a system for a different region (non-US).

The function keys are different in that the F3 and F4 keys have a different symbol on them but perform the same operations. I ordered the entire upper case assembly with the keyboard already installed so it wasn't a matter of which keyboard that I have. They keys all look the same and have the same placement. It's simply the numbers 1-9 which aren't working. The 0 key and the `/~ are working just fine. The - and = keys work fine too. I believe I wrote down the wrong product, however, as my Macbook Pro is a late 2011 model not mid. The Upper Case I ordered was advertised for this time period as well as for the Early 2011 and Early 2012 models. My system was purchased in the United States (Virginia). The current language of the system, however, is Spanish but with the old keyboard, that made no difference. Switching input methods has no effects on the response of keys 1-9.

If the function keys are different you got the wrong upper case (keyboard). The wiring of the keys is different so the logic board doesn't understand what you have pressed correctly (keyboard BIOS).

I purchased the keyboard ON THIS WEBSITE advertised for

"All Early 2011 15" Unibody MacBook Pros

All Late 2011 15" Unibody MacBook Pros

All Mid 2012 15" Unibody MacBook Pros."

[Product code: IF161-075-1]

The product which came in the mail had two different function keys. Those being F3 and F4. It's not my fault that I received the wrong keyboard as I purchased the part which iFixit told me was compatible with my device. What do I do?

I'm sorry things didn't workout here. This is a public support site, not the store it's self. Review your paperwork on returning/exchanging the part, there should be a phone number or email address on it.
