Can I make a fusion drive in my iMac with OSX 10.8.2?

I see on Macworld how to make a fusion drive http://www.macworld.com/article/2014011/... but that is on a Mac mini 2012 and I want to know if I can do it in my iMac 21.5" EMC 2428 with Mac OSX 10.8.2 after I install a ssd on it

Some people have had success with early Mac Mini's '11 Mac Mini Info. Yet, others have not been able to get a MBP working: '11 MBP info.

I suspect there is some firmware issues on some systems. Sadly Apple has not disclosed what systems work and which don't so you will have to just give it a try. Please do let us know if you were able to make it work.

I made it work with a 21.5 in. 2011 iMac with a Crucial 256 gb M4 SSD and stock 1 TB HD. I found instructions on the web using the Terminal program. I am running the latest OS and my machine screams now. I activated Trim Support using a shareware program. Even About My Mac recognizes it as a Fusion Drive.

Your correct! Most any Mac can be configured with a Fusion drive using the terminal commands in OS-X Mountain Lion. When I wrote the above answer we didn't know about how systems that didn't have the BIOS support could be setup.

I can confirm this, i've been using / upgrading (up to 10.9.1) my 21.5 mid 2011 imac without any problem with a fusion drive made from terminal commands, the stock 500Go HD and a vertex 3 SSD.

Absolutely nothing to say except it rocks !
