Xbox One Kinect Troubleshooting

No matter what you do, you can't power your Kinect on.

Make sure the device is plugged into both the Xbox and the Kinect with the outlet.

If your Kinect has a bent port, you can replace it by purchasing a replacement component.

If the Kinect is not responding after all of the above solutions, then you need to replace your logic board.

No matter how much you move, or how big your gestures are, the device does not recognize your body.

If your body gestures are not being recognized by the Kinect in games, commands, etc., then you need to activate the 'Kinect On' setting. This option is found by navigating through the 'Menu', 'Settings', and 'Kinect' menus. This will cause the Kinect's view to be displayed on the screen, which will help you to diagnose the problem.

To adjust the angle, hold the base of the Kinect with one hand. Grip the back of the Kinect with the other hand and tilt it up or down until the viewing window covers the entire play space. Avoid touching the lens during this step.

Visible dirt should be removed using a brush. Smudges may be removed using a microfiber cloth in a gentle circular motion. The cloth may be moistened with a camera or glass lens cleaner, but do not spray the cleaner directly onto the lens.

If the above solutions have not solved the problem, then you may need to replace the camera sensor.

No matter how loud you speak, the device does not recognize your voice.

Make sure to double check that everything is connected properly and every component of the device works.

Within the 'Setting' menu, select 'Kinect', 'Troubleshooting', and from here, restart the device to see if it reacts once it is turned off and turned back on.

Your Kinect is not recognizing your voice. The calibration of the microphone may not be set up correctly. Go on to Xbox 'Settings', 'Troubleshooting' and perform the two calibration tests titled: 'Check Background Noise' and 'Check Speaker Volume'.

If your Kinect does not turn on and all of the other advice fails to revive it, then you need to open the Kinect and check for physical damage to the motherboard.

The only way to find out if your motherboard is damaged is to take the Kinect apart and look inside for any cracks or chips. Also, check for any loose or broken connections on the board.

If the chip is breaking a connection with a component of the board or some of the components look as though they have been ripped from the board, then you will need to replace your motherboard.

If any of the cable connections are loose or broken, put them back in their respective places and try to power the Kinect on again.

If all of that doesn't work, then you might need to replace the motherboard.
