The engine will not start
I continuously pull the starting cord and it will not start.
The fuel empty tank is empty
The first thing you would check is your fuel. Be sure the fuel is no more than 30 days old. If this is the case, fill the fuel tank with fresh fuel.
The primer was not pressed enough
Secondly, the starting sequence on this model must be precise. The model requires, at minimum, ten presses of the primer bulb to start the trimmer.
The fuel has expired
If both of the first two possible causes are checked off, we would next consider the fuel in the engine. Lawn equipment is very delicate and today’s ethanol fuels can seriously damage small engine fuel systems. If you feel you may have expired fuel, drain the fuel tank by tilting the unit and fill with new fuel.
The spark plug is fouled or dirty
If the engine is still failing to start, there is a possibility your spark plug could be fouled or dirty. Check for debris and residue around the spark plug. The spark plug must be inspected, it is easily removed with the proper wrench.
The engine will not idle
The engine will not idle and has trouble staying on.
The air filter is dirty
An air filter is a necessary component on most gas powered machines. A clean air filter will allow a machine to run much more efficiently and smoothly than a machine with a dirty one. If the engine will not idle, the first thing one should do is examine your air filter and determine its condition. Replace the air filter if it is needed.
The fuel has expired
Next thing we would do is consider the fuel in the trimmer. Lawn equipment is very delicate and today’s ethanol fuels can seriously damage small engine fuel systems. Fuel should be no more than 30 days old. If you feel you may have expired fuel, drain the fuel tank completely by tilting the unit and fill with new fuel.
The idle speed is incorrect
If the above two possible causes are considered to be okay, the problem could lie within a wrongly adjusted idle. Adjust the idle speed to fix this problem.
The engine will not accelerate
The engine will not gain momentum, remains at a lower speed.
The fuel has expired
The absolute first thing you should do when experiencing an acceleration problem is to ensure you have good fuel in the tanks. Lawn equipment is very delicate and today’s ethanol fuels can seriously damage small engine fuel systems. Fuel should be no more than 30 days old. If you feel you may have expired fuel, drain the fuel tank completely by tilting the unit and fill with new fuel.
The cutting head is tangled with grass
Another possible cause of lack of acceleration could be a tangled head on the string trimmer. While trimming, grass can spin around the cutting head causing the engine limitations. If you see grass or something else wrapped around the cutting head, stop the engine and remove the debris.
The air filter is dirty
An air filter is a vital component on most pieces of machinery. It keeps dirt and other debris from entering the engine. A dirty air filter could most definitely keep an engine from its full capacity. If the the other two possible causes are eliminated, you will want to remove your air filter to inspect. If you find discrepancies with the old filter, replace it.
The engine lacks power or stalls
' ' The engine continues to shut down after started and the engine will not reach maximum
efficiency. ' '
The fuel has expired
The first thing that could this problem and many other problems is bad fuel. Fuel should be no more than 30 days old. Drain the fuel tank and fill with new fuel if you feel this could be the case.
The air filter is dirty
The second possible reason an engine would lack power is a dirty air filter. The air filter can easily be removed and inspected. Check the condition of the air filter and determine whether or not you need to replace the air filter.
The spark plug is fouled or dirty
If the first two reasons can be eliminated from the possible cause list, you will need to inspect your spark plug. It is possible for a spark plug to become fouled or dirty over time. An inspection of the spark plug is required by easily removing it with the proper wrench. Check for debris or residue around spark plug. Decide if the spark plug needs to be replaced.
The cutting head is not feeding trimming line
I tap the trimmer head and no string line proceeds to come out.
The cutting head is tangled with grass
The most common cause of a cutting head not feeding line is something obstructing the head. While trimming, grass, or a number of other things, could have spun around the cutting head. Stop the engine and clean cutting head of all debris around it.
The cutting head is out of line
Secondly, another reason your trimmer may not be feeding the line is it may be out of line or the current line is too short to feed. The Troy-Bilt model allows for easy line replacement. If this is to be true with your trimmer, refill the cutting head with new line.
The inner reel is entangled
After the first two possible causes are reviewed and the problem still remains, it might be that the line on the inner reel is tangled. Sometimes the line can be improperly installed. If this is the case, remove the line and then rewind it.

I pull the cord. It just rolls over. No compression. What should it have. What do I set the valves at?

Bought this trimmer at Lowes in May 2015. Use it approximately once every 2 weeks during the season, so that's about 18 times since I bought it. After taking a water break part way through trimming yesterday, the starter cord wouldn't retract, on the first pull. Troybilt use to have a good reputation , did all companies get rid of their quality control?

How do you refill trimming line on TB675 weed eater
Dale Stevenson - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
My TB675 EC weed whacker, when I start the motor it spews oil from a port next to the air filter. And my filter is soaked with oil.
I r remove the filter and oil is spraying out of the port and the motor stalls when I press the throttle.
Any suggestions as to why???

Yeah, I am experiencing the same %#*@ problem. Starts and idles like a champ but chokes down and out as soon as you hit the gas. I bought a 4 Stroke to escape the various problems with the 2 Stroke, at least the latter has two adjustment screws on the carb.

I have a toy built TB675 weed wacker that constantly sprays oil out of a port under the air filter.
The engine starts but will idle only and stall when I press the throttle.

I have had mine for about 4 or 5 years. It’s never worked. Once it warms up it dies. Once you give it gas it dies. After trying to get it to run it dies. This is the biggest pos I have ever owned and I bought it only so I wouldn’t have to mix gas. The trade off so far has been uneven.

My problem is that I cannot pull the starter cord nor use the electric starter device. It locks up and will not allow the engine to turn over.
What is the problem here?

Mike Watahovich - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Mine lacks power on top end I changed carbi to a good one that is fully adjustable
Replaced spark plug
Good part is Low end idel and starts 1st or second pull every time. Reves to its maximum rpm as it should
But at top end it's not getting enough rpm feels like an electronic issue like a governor is holding it back.
Cleaned exhaust and removed spark arrestor
Any ideas
