After removing the motherboard assembly for painting the housing my calculator did not power on at all. Ended up pressing random buttons and it powered on and works!

My used 84 plus silver kept shutting down after 3 seconds after upgrading the OS. Removing the AAA as well as the backup fixed the problem. Hoping the fix stays.

So my daughter just had this issue. I resolved by taking apart the calculator and cleaning all the buttons.
- remove back cover screws (x6)
- remove battery back up screw (x1)
- remove back cover
- remove foil cover screws (x2)
- remove foil
- remove mother board screws (x4)
- remove mother board
- flip back over and take picture of keyboard layout …
- flip back and remove mother board
- remove keys in the proper layout
- remove keyboard rubber board
- using alcohol and q-tips
- clean all the flower looking buttons on the mother board
- clean all the black areas on rubber side
- clean any exposed metal areas on mother board including battery interface
- reassemble
- and that did the trick for my daughters calculator …
Good Luck

My screen turns on and my cursor blinks but after that, no buttons are responsive and it occasionally changes screens to the window screen. I have to remove a battery to get the calculator to turn off. I have no idea how to clear my RAM of memory reset. is there any way to remotely control your calculator from your computer?

I had an issue where my TI 84 Plus Silver Edition would turn on and all the buttons would be functional except for the rightmost column (clear, exponent/power, divide, multiply, subtract, add, and enter buttons). All the buttons in this row only responded half the time, and when they did, they all performed the function of the enter button. This was probably due to one or more dirty button contacts.
I fixed it by disassembling my calculator (following the iFixit guide), and cleaning the button contacts on the motherboard and the back side of the rubber piece (specifically the black contacts) using isopropyl alcohol. This might solve your issue.
You can also follow what Lucas posted here on May 30, 2018 as a reply to austinwilliams2011. I did followed a similar process to his.

I don't know where I put the charger that came with the calculator. Can I use a different wall-charger that I found? Or will this mess up the calculator?

I'm unable to do a screen capture. I get not responding on the store and then the following error message 'TI ScreenCapture - Error getting screen shot' OK. When I click on the TIDeviceInformation Icon, I get a response with all the device details.

Um hi! So I was using my calculator which is the ti-84 plus silver addition. When I try to access the secret menus like the FUNC menu using the alpha F2 thing, it sends me to the windows screen that has functions of x and y and etc. I don’t know why it’s doing that but I’ve tried everything including resetting the calculator and turning off all running apps. What should I do?
