Hand-held steamer won’t lock into the main unit
The hand-held steamer unit does not firmly attach to the main unit.
The hand-held steamer isn’t properly aligned
Be sure that the base of the hand-held steamer is clean and properly aligned to the main unit. Put the base of the hand-held steamer unit into the main unit first, then align the top of the hand-held steamer unit with the top of the mopping unit. If you have problems inserting the hand-held steamer unit, this guide has a few tips.
The locking mechanism is blocked
Clear the power cord and other objects from the mopping unit so that the hand-held steamer unit can be inserted properly.
The locking mechanism is jammed or dirty
With regular daily use, there may be dust that clogs the lock button. Release the main unit, clean out any dust or debris that may have clogged the lock button, and re-assemble the main unit. If you have problems inserting the hand-held steamer unit, this guide has a few tips.
Floors are streaky or spotty after steaming
After mopping, there are streaks or spots left on the floor.
The Mop Pad is dirty
If streaks or spots appear after steaming, the mop pad may be dirty and need replaced. Simply replace the mop pad or flip the cloth to the opposite side. The Mop Pad Replacement Guide can walk you through this process.
There is a buildup of grease on the Mop Pad
When cleaning areas prone to grease, such as the kitchen, grease may build up on the floors. Before using the Steam Pocket Mop, apply a cleaning agent such as multi-purpose cleaner or dish soap first before going through the area with the Steam Pocket Mop.
The Mop Pad needs replaced
If you washed the mop pad with powder detergent, the microfiber may be ruined and need to be replaced. When washing, put the mop pad into the washing machine with like fabrics. Wash the pad with a liquid detergent; do not use powder detergent, bleach, or fabric softeners. Our Mop Pad Replacement Guide can walk you through this process.

Type of Water
Use distilled water rather than hard water for your Steam Pocket Mop. Hard water may leave streaks or spotting on the floor.
There is no steam produced
The mop does not produce steam.
The Steam Pocket Mop is not plugged in
Make sure that the Steam Pocket Mop is connected to power and plugged into a wall socket. Ensure that the socket is working properly.
There is no water in the tank
The SteamPocket Mop requires water in order to make steam. Check to see if there is water in the water tank. If there isn’t, unscrew the water tank cap and use the filling flask to pour distilled water into the tank until it reaches the fill line. Replace the water tank cap and tighten. Power the device on, wait about 30 seconds for the water to heat up, and then try again. If you have problems with your water tank cap, please use this guide.
The Steam Pocket Mop is not on the correct setting
The Steam Pocket Mop features multiple settings, so ensure the collar is on the “Steam and Spray” position. Also ensure the blue light is flashing, which indicates that the device is on.
The Cleaning Nozzle is clogged
Calcium and other minerals may build up in the nozzle, so you may need to clean the nozzle in order to produce steam. To do this, either use the nozzle cleaner provided with the Steam Pocket Mop, or use a straightened-out paper clip. You will need to remove the Steam Pocket Mop head and locate the nozzle, and simply insert the cleaner or paperclip into the hole and insert it up and down a few times to unclog the buildup.

I can't find a solution to my problem. The hand held steamer will steam until it is connected to the main housing. What's wrong? How can I fix this?
Aubrey Diaz - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Same here. The video is not available either.

Video is not available.
The paperclip method did not work and it’s still not steaming down to the head and pad.
Do I need to take it to a pro for Maintenance?

Paper clip didn’t work. No steam coming out. What to do next?
Andrea Kasgorgis - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Use CLR. Half water half CLR. Let it work overnight and that should fix the problem. I have done it. It works.

Same as above. Motor runs. I tried cleaning it out with the pen and the paper clip, still no steam.
What can I do to fix this?
It hasn't been used that often so I don't understand why I would have a problem
Please let me know as soon as possible
Thank you, Cheryl

Does anyone ever answer the question as to why the motor runs but it's not steaming? The paper clip doesn't work and neither does the video.
Brent Turner - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Thanks Sunshine,
The CLR tip worked almost instantly! As soon as I poured some in the small hole, the steam shot out within minutes.
Just be careful, I was holding the cleaner head when it shot out in my face. Thank goodness no harm & my steam cleaner is working again.

I have had the Shark mop for about 10 years. The heating element now does not cause steam. Where can I go to get it repaired. I live near American Fork, Utah.
Robert Field - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Use white distilled vinegar, filling up the water reservoir completely. Let it steam completely out, and the mop will begin steaming and working properly again.

The hand-held (Lift-away) part of my steamer is leaking hot water and burns my hand/finger when I depress the button. I've tried using an oven mitt, but it's still too hot. What do I do to keep it from leaking near the finger button?
Bonnie Garcia - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have this problem, also. Would love to see a solution!
Daisy Mae -
Fill the water reservoir with white distilled vinegar. Let the mop steam all of it out. I did mine twice, works good as new. I also did it outside, so my house wouldn’t smell.
Debi Hull - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
What does it mean when the "steam" light just keeps blinking not allowing me to select the setting? Additionally, it is not producing steam even tho the unit heats.

The mop will not turn on; the on button does not light up.

The handheld won’t lock into the main handle. There is no dirt or dust that I can see
Harry Smith - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Mine leaks steam out near the attachment point of the handheld tank to the handle with very little steam coming out the floor pad.
