Shark Lift-Away Professional Steam Pocket Mop Troubleshooting

The Steam Pocket Mop is difficult to push on the floors, and/or does not glide smoothly.

Ensure that the mop pad is attached correctly to the Steam Pocket Mop. If the mop pad is not correctly attached, the Steam Pocket Mop may not glide and function properly. Attach the mop pad to the base of the mop head. This guide can provide you with helpful tips.

If the mop pad is attached correctly, ensure that the pad is clean and dry. If the pad is dirty or wet, the mop may not glide despite being attached correctly. In this situation, simply replace the mop pad. Please see our Mop Pad Replacement Guide for more information.

The Steam Pocket Mop fails to collect all the water, and/or leaves water on the floors.

Your Steam Pocket Mop will fail to collect all of the water if the pad is already too wet. Simply replace the mop pad located at the base of the mop. Discard the previous mop pad. Please see our Mop Pad Replacement Guide for more information.

Ensure that the mop pad is correctly attached to the Steam Pocket Mop. If the mop pad is not correctly attached, the mop may not collect all the water during cleaning. Simply re-attach the mop pad. Please see our Mop Pad Replacement Guide for more information.

If the Steam Pocket Mop is set to “Scrub Mode” instead of the traditional mop or dust settings, your floors may take longer to dry after using. Change the settings from ”Scrub Mode” to the “Dust Setting” by pressing the “ON/STANDBY” button once. To change to the setting, press the ON/STANDBY button twice.

The hand-held steamer unit does not firmly attach to the main unit.

Be sure that the base of the hand-held steamer is clean and properly aligned to the main unit. Put the base of the hand-held steamer unit into the main unit first, then align the top of the hand-held steamer unit with the top of the mopping unit. Clear the power cord and other objects from the mopping unit so that the hand-held steamer unit can be inserted properly.

With regular daily use, there may be dust that clogs the lock button. Release the main unit, clean out any dust or debris that may have clogged the lock button, and re-assemble the main unit. If you have problems inserting the hand-held steamer unit, this guide has a few tips.

After mopping, there are streaks or spots left on the floor.

If streaks or spots appear after steaming, the mop pad may be dirty and need replaced. Simply replace the mop pad or flip the cloth to the opposite side. The Mop Pad Replacement Guide can walk you through this process.

When cleaning areas prone to grease, such as the kitchen, grease may build up on the floors. Before using the Steam Pocket Mop, apply a cleaning agent such as multi-purpose cleaner or dish soap first before going through the area with the Steam Pocket Mop.

If you washed the mop pad with powder detergent, the microfiber may be ruined and need to be replaced. When washing, put the mop pad into the washing machine with like fabrics. Wash the pad with a liquid detergent; do not use powder detergent, bleach, or fabric softeners. Our Mop Pad Replacement Guide can walk you through this process.

Use distilled water rather than hard water for your Steam Pocket Mop. Hard water may leave streaks or spotting on the floor.

The mop does not produce steam.

Make sure that the Steam Pocket Mop is connected to power and plugged into a wall socket. Ensure that the socket is working properly.

The SteamPocket Mop requires water in order to make steam. Check to see if there is water in the water tank. If there isn’t, unscrew the water tank cap and use the filling flask to pour distilled water into the tank until it reaches the fill line. Replace the water tank cap and tighten. Power the device on, wait about 30 seconds for the water to heat up, and then try again. If you have problems with your water tank cap, please use this guide.

The Steam Pocket Mop features multiple settings, so ensure the collar is on the “Steam and Spray” position. Also ensure the blue light is flashing, which indicates that the device is on.

Calcium and other minerals may build up in the nozzle, so you may need to clean the nozzle in order to produce steam. To do this, either use the nozzle cleaner provided with the Steam Pocket Mop, or use a straightened-out paper clip. You will need to remove the Steam Pocket Mop head and locate the nozzle, and simply insert the cleaner or paperclip into the hole and insert it up and down a few times to unclog the buildup.
