Weak Wifi Connection
The wifi will not connect or won’t stay connected.
Outdated Router Program
First, try resetting the router to make sure there is nothing wrong with your internet connection. If the problem continues, either update your laptop programming or go to the Intel website and download the latest update/software for your laptop model.
Incorrect Router Configuration
Check that the router configuration and the configuration on your laptop match. If this does not improve the connection, try finding alternative channels. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are some of the most receptive wifi channels.
Radio Interference
Depending on where you are, radio signals can cause the wifi signal to fail to connect or weaken. Try moving somewhere that does not have too much exposure to radio signals.
Incorrect Position and Length of Antenna
Laptop antennas are usually hidden within the laptop itself. Most antennas are positioned against the edge of the screen. To test the signal, manipulate the position of the antenna by turning the screen vertically or horizontally, or follow the instructions of this guide. The change in position should strengthen the signal.
Device Fails to Charge
When the device is plugged in, the battery does not charge.
Power Cord is Defective
If the device does not charge when you plug in the power cord, test a different power cord. If the problem persists, than either the battery or the power jack is faulty. Check out the guides listed under the next two symptoms to find out how to replace these parts.
Battery is Defective
If the device shows that it is charging when plugged in, then dies when the power cord is removed, the battery should be replaced. Explore this guide to find out how.
AC DC Power Jack is Defective
There may be a problem with the power jack if
- the charging light does not come on when the power cord is plugged in
- the power cord has to be twisted or the laptop placed in a specific angle to get a charge
- the power flickers on and off
- the battery is dead and the device does not respond when it is plugged in
Use this guide to effect repairs.
Touchpad is Unresponsive
The touchpad does not move the mouse or click properly.
Touchpad is Not Updated
If the touchpad is not responding, check to see if the touchpad driver is installed correctly through the settings. Open settings and locate the folder “Samsung Update,” then find “Touchpad Driver” to make sure the touchpad is installed. If the touchpad is installed, the word “installed” will show in the bottom right corner of the settings page.
Touchpad is Not Enabled
If an external mouse has been connected to your laptop, your touchpad may have been disabled. Open settings and select “Devices”, then locate the touchpad options. Click the touchpad tab and find its settings. Once doing so, check to see if the box “disable when external point device is attached” is checked. If so, uncheck it.
Touchpad is Disconnected
Your touchpad may have been disconnected from the motherboard of your laptop. This will be a case of operating on your own device. Refer to this guide for the steps involved.
Battery Won’t Stay Charged
Computer dies quickly after it has been charged.
Battery’s Life Has Expired
If you tried different charging cables and went through the battery settings, it’s time to get a new battery. Follow this guide to find out how to remove your old battery and install a new one.
Battery is Damaged or Defective
Replacing the battery would fix the problem, but if you can’t afford a new battery at the moment, a temporary solution would be using your laptop without it. Just remove the battery and plug in your laptop like you would normally.
Charging Circuitry is Bad
If you tried multiple power cords and already replaced a battery, your laptop may have a problem with internal charging circuitry. Replacing the charging circuitry has to be done by a professional.
Keyboard Does Not Work
Keys on the keyboard are not always responsive.
The Keyboard Driver is Not Working
Try restarting the computer; this might reboot the driver software for the keyboard. If this does not work, the keyboard driver software may need to be reinstalled. To do this try opening settings, or searching online for the necessary keyboard driver software for this model of the computer.
Keyboard Settings Are Not Properly Modified
Try opening the settings for the keyboard and adjusting them. If the hot keys do not work, you might have to reset them. If the settings for the computer are not on the home screen, search for them in the computer’s finder. To fix the hot keys, try opening settings and changing or updating the settings for the hotkeys, or “function keys.”
Keys Are Jammed or Stuck
If the keys do not raise back up after being pressed down, try cleaning the keyboard with an alcohol wipe. If they continue to stick and jam, the keyboard may have to be replaced. If you do not already know how to do this, please refer to this guide for instructions.
