Roku 4 Audio Will Not Play
You have trouble playing audio from your Roku.
TV Audio Failure
Ensure that the TV you are using to stream your content is not muted, or that the volume level is not at its lowest setting.
External Cable Failure
If you are using a cable to output your content's volume, ensure that the designated cable is plugged in both at its output (the TV) and at its input (your audio source).
Audio Device Failure
Connect your Roku 4 to an alternate audio output source. Should this solution fix your issue, the previous audio device is faulty.
Cable Failure
Exchange the cable currently in use for another one to ensure that the problem is not necessarily related to audio transmission emanating from the cable.
Roku 4 Video Will Not Play
You have trouble playing video from your Roku 4.
TV Failure
Connect your Roku 4 to a different input channel on your TV. If the problem does not persist, that input for the TV is faulty.
TV Input Failure
In the back of your TV, note the input channel that your Roku 4 is connected to. Using your TV remote, ensure that you are currently on the input that your device is connected to.
HDMI Cable Failure
Ensure that the HDMI cable connecting your Roku 4 to the TV is firmly inserted both into the output and input channels of your devices. You may also try connecting the HDMI to another source of video display, such as a computer, to check if the cable is at fault.
Roku 4 Will Not Turn On
Your Roku 4 device does not seem to be working or show signs of power activity.
Power Source Disconnection
Look to see if the power cord is fully plugged into the Roku 4 device and its power source. If not, securely plug the device into the power source and turn on device.
Cuts On Power Cord
Plug the Roku 4 into a different power source and try to turn it on. If the device is still not working, check for cuts or abnormalities on the cord. Replace the cord if it contains any faulty indicators.
Faulty Motherboard
If you have checked the power source and the device still won't turn on, the motherboard of the device may need to be replaced. Check out the Roku 4 Motherboard Replacement guide to replace the motherboard of your Roku 4.
Remote Control Not Responding
Your Roku 4 device is not responding to the remote signal.
Faulty Batteries
If your remote is not functioning, then it is possible that your remote's batteries are depleted or are faulty. Replace the AA or AAA batteries, then check the LED light on the front of the remote. The light should flash if the remote is functioning properly. Once the remote is working, a pairing dialog will appear on your television screen.
Device Pairing Issues
Check if your remote is paired to the Roku 4 device. If not, pair the remote by pressing the pairing button inside the battery compartment for 3 seconds until the LED light on the remote flashes and the pairing dialog appears on your television screen.
Stuck Buttons
Occasionally the remote buttons may become stuck and need to be replaced. Check out the Roku 4 Remote Control Buttons Replacement guide to replace the buttons on your remote control.
Faulty Remote Control Motherboard
If your remote is still not responsive after checking the batteries, the motherboard may need to be replaced. Check out the Roku 4 Remote Control Motherboard Replacement guide to replace the remote control motherboard.
No WiFi Connection
Your Roku 4 is not connecting to WiFi.
Incorrect WiFi Login Information
Make sure you have correctly entered the login information to your network.
WiFi is Out of Range
If your Roku 4 is not connecting to WiFi, the WiFi signal from the router could be out of range. Strengthen the signal by moving the router or the Roku 4 so that there are fewer walls and objects between them. Do not place the Roku 4 or router in closed areas that could block the signal, and avoid putting the router by a window, in a basement, or close to other electronic devices that could cause interference. You could also adjust the antennas of the router towards the Roku 4. To obtain the most reliable WiFi connection, connect the Roku 4 to the router using an Ethernet cable.
Faulty Ethernet Port
If you are using an Ethernet cable to access WiFi, the disconnection could be due to a faulty Ethernet port that needs to be replaced. Check out the Roku 4 Ethernet Port Replacement guide to replace the Ethernet port.
Applications Crash or Become Unresponsive
Your application crashes or becomes unresponsive while you are using it.
Roku 4 Out of Date
Your applications could be crashing because your Roku 4 software is not up to date and can't install new updates to the applications. To fix this, enter the Settings from the home screen. Under Settings, choose System, then System Update, and finally Check Now. If there is an update available, apply the update. Check your applications to see if they work after the update.
Application Failure
If an application is crashing or becoming unresponsive often, there could be a problem with the application. Close the application you are currently using and open another application. See if the problem reoccurs using a different application. If that application crashes too, try rebooting your Roku 4. To reboot, unplug the device and wait at least 5 seconds before plugging it back in. Check your applications to see if they work after the reboot.
