Speaker won't power on.
The device is not turning on.
Speaker is not switched on
Before the speaker is taken apart, check to see if the speaker is switched on. If you flip the switch and the blue LED does not come on, then you may have a dead/ drained battery.
Bad/drained battery
If your speaker hasn't been used recently, or if was left on for a long period of time, the battery may be drained. Use the micro-USB adapter to plug your speaker into any USB port. If the LED light comes on, then the speaker should now be charging. If the LED light remains off after plugging in the speaker, then there may be an internal issue with the battery and it may need to be replaced.
Broken micro-USB Adapter
You may find that the micro-USB adapter may not be able to be inserted into the unit. Try using a paperclip or watchmakers flat screwdriver to center the male end located in the unit. Then try to gently attaching a charging cable and you may be able to charge the unit i.e., red light comes on and then you can see if the unit works before changing the micro-USB connector. Replacing the micro-USB connector requires taking the unit apart and removing the PCB and desoldering the micro-USB connector and soldering a new connector in and this is more difficult due to the small components and working space.
No sound coming from the speaker
The device is not emitting sound.
Speaker is not powered on
Check to see if the power switch is in the “on” position and blue LED light in the bottom right hand corner of the metal face-plate is blinking. If no blue LED light, refer to the bad/drained battery troubleshooting section to check the battery charge.
Speaker is not connected to the Bluetooth device
To test to see if the speaker is paired with the Bluetooth device, observe the blue flashing LED on the face-plate of the speaker. When the speaker is unpaired, the LED light will flash rapidly. Once it has successfully paired with a device, the flashing of the LED will slow down.
Volume too low
If the device is on, assure the volume level is at an audible level using the “+” button on the top of the device. If none of these solutions work, there may be an internal issue with the speaker system and they may need to be replaced.
Speaker sounds distorted
The sound coming through the speakers have decreased in quality.
Device Out of Bluetooth Range
Ensure that the speaker is within the receiving boundary of 33 ft for optimal Bluetooth connection. If within Bluetooth range, first check to see if the power switch is in the “on” position and blue LED light in the bottom right hand corner of the metal face-plate is blinking. Ensure that the Bluetooth capable device is powered on and has it’s Bluetooth turned on. Check to see if you have selected PHOTIVE PH-BTW55 SPEAKER as the pairing device. Allow 0 -15 seconds for device to connect to speaker.
Dirty Speakers
To better the quality of the speakers, ensure that the speakers are clean and free from debris. Clean the speakers with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth. Do not use any type of detergents or an abrasive cleaner.
Device connectivity issues
The device will not connect to your input device.
No Bluetooth connection
First check to see if the power switch is in the “on” position and blue LED light in the bottom right hand corner of the metal face-plate is blinking. Ensure that the speaker is within the receiving boundary of 33 ft for optimal Bluetooth connection. Ensure that the Bluetooth capable device is powered on and has it’s Bluetooth turned on. Check to see if you have selected PHOTIVE PH-BTW55 SPEAKER as the pairing device. Allow 0 -15 seconds for device to pair to speaker. Check that the connecting device and speaker device volume is all the way up.
Auxiliary Connection issues
First check to see if the power switch is in the “on” position and blue LED light in the bottom right hand corner of the metal face-plate is blinking. Check that auxiliary cable is completely pushed into speaker auxiliary port and connecting devices auxiliary port. Check auxiliary cable for tears or abrasion to connecting tip. Check that the speaker auxiliary port and connecting devices auxiliary port is not obstructed by debris or damaged. Check that the connecting device and speaker device volume is all the way up.
Waterproof cap disconnected
In some cases, the cap protecting the on/off switch, micro-USB port and AUX port may disconnect or break.
Cap disconnecting
If the protective cap is disconnected from the speaker, simply acquire some kind of pointed object, like a pencil or screwdriver.Apply force on the mushroom shaped end of the cap to push it back into its hole.
Cap broken
If the mushroom shaped end of the cap has been broken off of the rest of the cap, then the cap cannot be reconnected to the device. In this case, the device should no longer be used as a shower speaker, but may still be used as a regular wireless speaker.

Apparently, if the speaker's power is completely drained, it can change it's pariing codes, requiring "forget device" before pairing it again.

Thanks, Ryan! That was very helpful. I had the same problem. Had my iPhone forget the device and then discover it and the connection came back.

Mine used to work. Now it just powers on and the blue light blinks rapidly. It does not work with my paired cell phone. It does not pair with phones that had not been paired to it yet. I deleted the pairing on my phone and tried to re-pair. Failed.
This thing is only a couple of months old.

I have the same problem too. Does anyone here know what to do?
ace -
Mine is less than a week old and doing the same thing!!! Any other troubleshooting advice for pairing other than charging the speaker? It's fully charged :(
Joy -
Same problem as well, Tom. Did you manage to fix the problem? Cheers.
Hula Palusa -
Thank you! I had the same problem and was ready to throw the speaker in the trash.

Ryan is apparently right. I let my speaker's battery run completely out, after which the speaker would not pair with my phone. The solution: 1) in the Bluetooth screen on the cell phone, in My Devices, click the circle "i" beside the Photive Speaker, then click "Forget This Device." The Photive Speaker then disappears from My Devices. To make it reappear and then connect again, 2) switch Bluetooth to off, then back to On. Problem solved.

I am currently having problems with the volume being low, have turned the speaker up as high as it goes , same with the phone. I am currently in the process of flattening the battery of the speaker to see if that will re set the volume levels
Mark Prowse - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have the same problem as Mark Prowse - BT works, but volume is extremely low. I’ve unpaired/paired, let the battery drain and re-paired, etc. at support’s suggestion. Still too low. Aux works fine, normal volume. Any ideas? Support stopped replying when I told them it was a gift, I think they were about to just send a new one.

Chris Forzano - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Had a power surge and lost the pairing between my echo and this speaker. When the speaker is on, it blinks blue very rapidly. I asked Echo to pair and she said she could not find a speaker. I've tried to power this speaker down, but it keeps going into power mode. I sat with it and every time it powered off, I turned it back on but this speaker still has not died. I also removed the speaker from the bluetooth app on the Echo and have tried to reconnect. It will visually show this speaker but also showing that it's still searching. Essentially having the same issue as Tom from some months back. Any new ideas out there?

I got this Speaker 3 days ago and it seemed to work very well until this morning. My speaker says that it is “connected” and my laptop says that it is connected. Every time I try to play music from it, It dosn’’t play anything. My laptop still plays the music. I have tried to disconnect the speaker from my device and then reconnect it, but it is still doing the same thing over and over again. Is this happening to somebody else? Please help me.

I have a photive 90 and now it beeps a busy signal every few min. It doesn’t matter whether music is playing or not, everything just cuts out and a loud busy signal beeps twice and then goes back to normal. Tried all the “usual fixes”. Any suggestions?

The mini mushroom works fine with my phone but won’t work with my laptop. I can get the speaker to pair with my laptop through the bluetooth but I cannot find the drivers for the device. Has anyone had any luck?
Richele Allen - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
When i plug it in to charge it gets red and turns off when its done. After i unplug it and push the button over to “on” there is no blue light. I bought the speaker today and left it charge all day. I have tried seeing if Bluetooth light is broken and trying to connect anyway and that is not working. I also have tried the auxiliary cable and that does bot work, no sound will come out and there is no blue light even though it is fully charged.

So my aunt bought me headphones for Christmas, and they’ve never given me a problem before recently. I try to charge my headphones, but the LED doesn’t glow and the headphones don’t charge, I have no idea if this is some sort of internal issue, but I’d like help from anyone who knows what to do.
Taylor Phillips - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Does anyone know how to restart the speaker? The power button isn’t working and the power button is flashing. I charged it over night with my success.
