Battery Draining Too Quickly
The phone’s battery life is shorter than average (5 hours or less) or the battery is acting weak after only 1 year or less of usage.
Battery Has Reached the End of its Lifespan
If the cause is unrelated to user activity, then the battery itself may be the issue. If it is too old or worn to continue working, replacing the battery would be the best solution. Use this guide to learn how to replace the battery.
Phone Not Connecting to Network
The phone is having difficulties finding networks and/or staying connected.
Phone is Not Updated
One reason the device may be experiencing network issues is that the phone is not up to date. Being behind on system updates can cause the phone to not detect Wi-Fi networks. To resolve this, go into the system settings, go to “About Phone”, and then go into “Software Updates.” Allow the phone to install all updates and reset it. Once everything comes back on, the device may be able to connect to Wi-Fi again.
Internet Modem is Faulty
If all the alternative steps are taken and the device is still having problems, it may be the local internet modem that is the issue. First, go to the modem and ensure that all cables are connected properly, to both the outlets and the device itself. Then turn the modem off, either with a power button or by disconnecting the main power cord, and allow it to stay off for 30 seconds to a minute. Then power the modem on and try connecting again. If this does not work, contact your service provider to help as the network may be having internal issues.
Burst of Static When Playing a Sound
When playing sound from the speaker, a burst of static plays from the speaker before resuming normal audio.
Moto Audio App Issue
If the Moto Audio app is causing the issue, you may fix this by resetting the data. Doing this will reset your equalizer settings. Navigate to: "Settings > Sound > Moto Audio." Tap the three dots, then select “Show icon in the app tray.” Go back to the home screen and press and hold the app icon, and tap “App Info” (the “i” icon). Tap “Storage,” then select “Clear Data.” After doing this, open the Moto Audio app and change the sound profile to any option other than “Smart Audio.”
Phone App Issue
If you get bursts of static while you are receiving a phone call, this issue may be caused by the Phone app. To fix this, press and hold on the icon of the Phone app, and tap “App Info” (the “i” icon). Tap “Storage”, then select “Clear Data”. Note that doing this may result in the deletion of contacts or call history if this is not synced with your Google account.
Faulty Ringtone, Alarm, or Notification Sound Effect
If you are encountering the issue when the ringtone, alarm, or notification is playing, the issue may be the audio clip that is set. Go to Settings > Sound, and change these three sounds to a different sound.
Phone is Unable to Boot
The device will not load the operating system when powering on.
OS Error
Try restarting the device to get it to boot. To do this, press and hold the power button and the volume down button until the screen turns off.
If you are unable to access the phone’s menu to perform the standard reset, you can attempt an external factory reset. To perform an external reset, the device has to be turned off. First press and hold the power button and the volume down button. Select "RECOVERY MODE" by pressing the volume down button. Press the power button. Press and hold the power button, then press and release the "volume up" button. Select Wipe data/factory reset by pressing the "volume down" button. Press the power button. Select "Factory data reset" by pressing the "volume down" button. Press the power button. Select "Reboot system now" and press the power button. All data and settings saved on the phone will be deleted, and it will automatically reset and reboot.
Software Error
There may be an application or program causing an error with the phone software. To diagnose it, try rebooting the device in Safe Mode. This will allow you to open apps individually to try and determine which app may be causing the issue. First press and hold the power button. Then choose and hold "Power Off." After pressing "Ok," the device should reboot in Safe Mode.
Slow Performance After Update
Device is lagging after a system update.
Excessive Data Cache
The phone cache are temporary files that can slow down performance. To clear them, go to device settings, look for the “Storage,” then click on the “Cached Data”. Then click on “Clear Cache.”
Too Many Applications Running
Having numerous applications on your device can slow it down, especially if they run in the background. Try disabling or uninstalling unused applications. To do this, long-press on the application icon, tap on “App Info” & select “Disable.”
Faulty Auto Sync
Auto sync is used to keep your device updated in the background. This can be resource intensive and affect performance, so disabling it may help speed up the device. Go to “Settings,” then “Accounts Option,” and scrolling down until you see “Auto Sync.” Click on it and turn it off.

Same here mine is doing the same thing plus my setting are resetting at random every since the last Android Update, but when I ask anyone in customer service they ask like I all of the sudden started speaking in some dead language or something. I really like the Moto Stylus but customer support leaves something to be desired.

My problem isn't listed here. To begin, the YouTube app wasn't connected to the internet so I try doing the standard restart but hit the shut down. Then immediately tolurn it on. The boot up was fine until I got to the screen lock, the phone button was on the left side. Opening up I get this "phone is starting..." And it doesn't goes away. I can't get pass it yet I can still get calls and the setting menu still be entered but I can't type anything.
I don't want to do a factory reset.

I have several phones in my household and 3 of them started having trouble when someone calls them or they call someone and one of the two parties cannot hear the other. Tried rebooting sometimes it helps but one phone had to be rebooted 4 times today.

Ever since my Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) received an Android system update from version 12 to 13 on September 5, 2023, it's now unbelievably slow and it will lock for 15 to 30 seconds. When in apps where I need to bring in a file to edit, there are several more steps than before just to get 1 file. Also, some apps will not let me edit the far edges of a picture. These things are so frustrating that I now hate this cellphone. I can't believe the Android OS update has caused all these issues. You should allow the OS to be able to roll back to the previous version in case a situation like this happens.

My issue is with Receiving text verification codes. This is a huge problem.2 step verification is the norm. So not being able to receive them has stopped/blocked my Amazon and many other sites. Yes I have tried everything I could read or find even a code I blindly put in my phone which told me what I already know. Not connecting probably. I have experienced all the above issues with the moto g stylus. I called regarding each issue, I was told to actually put my phone in airplane mode and restart an once the phone has completed the reboot, then turn off airplane mode! This didn't change or stop any of the issues. The phone drops my calls and goes in and out of network. I haven't had a smooth week since having the phone and no one really has a solution. I want this phone replaced or a refund for all the months I paid it. The service sucks with this phone. How in the world are these phones even being promoted??? This phone has been nothing but trouble, since I had it, someone has been trying to break into my accounts, it's been opening random apps on it's own and I no longer treat it as a privately owned device because I don't feel safe using it. I feel like someone's watching my text messages, seeing through my camera, listening to my calls, or conversations when I'm near this phone, viewing my emails, notes, device history and its ALL AT RISK!
