Surface Pro 4 Does Not Respond When Power Button Is Pressed
If you tried powering on your Surface Pro 4 but the device doesn’t respond or it turns on and then off, the problem could be caused by a number of issues including being stuck in sleep mode or having a low battery.
Broken Power Cord
Replace the power cord
If the LED light in the tip of the power cord does not turn on when the Surface Pro 4 is plugged in to an outlet, then there may be a problem with the power cord itself. In that case, you would need to replace it.
Surface Pro Won't Turn on or Is Stuck in Sleep Mode
Step 1. Force Restart
Hold down the power button on your device for at least 30 seconds and then release it. Press the power button once to turn the device back on.
If this does not work proceed to step 2.
Step 2. Two-button Shutdown
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then release it. Hold down the device's power button and its volume-up button for at least 15 seconds then let go. Wait 10 seconds, and then press the power button to start up the device.
Step 3. Replace Power Button
If the above steps do not work, you may have a faulty or disconnected power button.
Replace the button and test to see if the Surface Pro turns on.
Surface Pen Does Not Work
Normally, your Surface Pen will allow interaction with the screen of your Surface Pro. If you attempt to use the Surface Pen and the Surface Pro does not respond or responds in an unexpected manner, there may be an issue with the pen.
Broken Pen Tip
Check if the pen tip is scratched or broken. If it is broken you can purchase a replacement kit at various electronics retailers.
Pen Is Not Connected to Bluetooth
Go to the Bluetooth settings on your Surface to ensure that that Bluetooth is enabled and your Surface Pen is connected to Bluetooth.
If it still doesn't work, go to Settings, select the device and click Remove Device. Then pair the pen with the Surface by holding the top button on the pen for seven seconds and then select Pair on the Bluetooth device list.
Pen Battery Needs to Be Replaced
You might need to replace the battery for the pen. To do this, twist the cap counterclockwise and pull it off of the pen. Remove the battery and replace with a new AAAA battery. Replace the cap.
Surface Battery Won't Charge
The Surface Pro 4 may have a battery issue if the battery level does not increase when it is plugged into a power source. It might display such messages as “Plugged in, Not Charging,” or “Battery Not Detected.

Surface pro is connected to VDU. The big screen is fine but the actual surface pro tablet screen is showing upside down. Also lots of flickering when moving from applications

My Surface Pro 4 is fully charged but will not work without the power cord connected, how can I fix this issue? If I unplug it will instantly go blank and will not turn back on unless I plug it back in and as I said it shows the battery is 100% charged.

This is my headache now.. Tried all manner of stuffs yet no result. Where you able to get it fixed? If yes can you share with me please.

I’m also having the same issue but instead of 100% it shows 0% and not charging. I tried everything but nothing seems to work so I’m not quite sure what to do at this point. I have already replaced my Surface once due to the flickering screen issue. At this point, I am even considering changing to a Mac and trashing this Surface! :(

my surface pro 4 pen will not allow me to use it’s full functionality. I am quite simple only able to press the top button which opens the sketch page. I am unable to use it other than that, I have checked if I need to update, changed batteries, replaced pen tip, ensured connection through Bluetooth of course and still am unable to get it to work. the pen is relatively new and I am unsure of whether it is a problem on my side or a faulty pen.

A sometimes simple fix: Make sure your battery has the positive (+) terminal facing the twist off cap, and not the tip of the pen.
In other words, make sure your battery is inserted the right way!

Where can I replace broken power cord for surface pro 4?
Ruth Champion - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Hello,
I have the same problem. I changed my battery on my SP 4 and got a new screen too. The only problem I was having before is the old battery would hold a charge for too long. But now the only way to turn it on and keep it on is with the power cord.
Any tips to try before I take it to a repair tech.
Thank you much

My surface pro 4 shows a black screen where the word "Surface" on the front and a red bar on top with the lock icon. How do I fix this? I tried the up in power button no progress.
Daniel - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Hi, I changed the battery of my SP4 because the previous one inflates and broke the screen, it turns on for a few seconds and then turn off completely, if I plug the charger the green led turns on but that’s the only sign
I left the new battery installed for 2 months without the screen and without chargin it and now the new battery its inflated .
Any sugestions before I buy a new battery and replace it again?
Thanks a lot
Luis - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
My Surface Pro 4 boots up, shows 0% available, plugged in . . .and after a few seconds, even when plugged in, it powers down. . . after a few minutes you can repeat this process, but the result is the same. . . any ideas? Also, if it turns out that a new battery or other component is necessary, is there a place that will repair them? No way will I tackle a battery replacement on this Surface. Microsoft points you to Best Buy but they say they do not work on them.
