Weak Signal
If your device has clear view of the sky while staying still for at least 5 minutes and still does not have signal, reset the device by holding the slide switch in the off position for about 5 seconds. Upon the device turning back on, make sure it has a clear view of the sky and keep it still for 5 minutes.

GPS will not stay charged for as long as advertised.
Brightness Setting is Too High
If the GPS screen brightness is set to the highest setting, then it may cause your device to die quicker. You can dim this to extend battery life. You can also set the device to automatically go to the dimmest setting when it is not plugged into a power source. Magellan Roadmate is Not Charged
Your GPS can run up to 2 hours on a completely full battery; however, it is possible that you did not allow enough time for a complete charge. According to the manufacturer’s site, the GPS should be completely charged in 4-6 hours.
Charger is Faulty
It is possible that the issue is with the charger itself and not the GPS device. Verify that there are no visible defects with your charging cord. If need be, you can purchase a new one from this site.
Battery is Faulty

This was an un-opened box that was purchased about 5 Years ago from a friend who gave it to me. Upon opening it up and plugging it in and charging for several hours all I can get is the Magellan Logo on the screen and nothing else?
