Dust Buildup in the Fan or Vents
Over time, dust can collect inside the laptop, especially around the fan and ventilation areas. This buildup can block airflow and force the fan to work harder, making it louder than normal. Use a can of compressed air to blow out the vents and fan openings. For a deeper clean, you may need to open the device.

High CPU or Graphics Load
When your laptop is under heavy load—like running games, editing videos, or opening too many tabs—the fan will spin faster to keep the system cool. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check if any apps are using a lot of CPU or GPU power. If so, close unnecessary programs or restart the device to reduce the workload.
Outdated System BIOS or Drivers
An outdated BIOS or system driver can cause the fan to behave improperly, spinning at full speed when it’s not needed. Check Lenovo’s support website for firmware or BIOS updates. Be sure to install the latest thermal management or power-related drivers available for your device.
Fan Bearing or Hardware Issue
If your fan makes grinding, clicking, or rattling sounds, it might be worn out or physically damaged. In this case, cleaning won’t solve the problem. You’ll likely need to replace the internal fan to restore quiet operation.
