Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 Mousepad Non-responsive
When you touch the mousepad and the mouse can't move on your screen, it might indicate an issue with the responsiveness.
Mousepad Disabled in Settings
The mousepad on your Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 may be accidentally turned off in either of the following ways: Windows Settings, a keyboard shortcut, a function key either F6 or F9.
- Press Fn + F6 to re-enable the touchpad if it has been disabled
- You can also re-enable this on device manager by right clicking the Windows icon
- Selecting Device Manager
- Clicking on the device
- Selecting the up arrow button on the taskbar as the last item to enable the device.
Mousepad Outdated in Drivers
Technology moves rapidly and drivers can become outdated quickly, thus causing unresponsiveness. Also, corrupted drivers can be just as troublesome as outdated drivers.
The easiest solution is to update the mousepad drivers through Device Manager.
- Click the Windows icon
- Click device Manager
- Right click on the device
- Select Update Driver
- Select Search Automatically for Drivers
Mousepad is Permanently Damaged
Like all hardware, the mousepad is very susceptible to damage as it falls. If the damage is severe, replacement might be necessary. However, if it is minor, it can be fixed.
- Unbend the bent touchpad back into a flat position on the laptop
- Clean it with a dry cloth if necessary, as debris can accumulate under the pad causing it not to press down properly.
System Glitches within Hardware
Windows can sometimes get buggy, causing the mousepad to not work as expected.
A full restart is usually enough to fix minor software issues. But, if you suspect a third-party app causing the issue, boot into safe mode to troubleshoot and test if a third-party app is causing the issue.
