Screen Has Dark Edges, Abnormal Backlighting/Colors
Some users have experienced abnormalities in their screens. These would be glaring issues such as dead pixels, darkened edges, inconsistent backlighting, and strange colors.
Screen Needs Replacement
It’s likely at this point that the screen needs replacement in order to fix visible display issues. See our Screen Replacement guide for directions.
Screen Won’t Turn On
The screen stays black after attempting to wake the phone with the button on the rear face and being charged for multiple hours.
Battery is Dead
It’s possible that your battery is dead, especially if there aren’t any noises emanating from the device. See the Battery Replacement guide for help.
Screen is Broken
If you do hear noises, vibrations, or blinks coming from the device, it could be an issue with the screen. See the Screen Replacement guide for instructions.
Overheated Device
If the phone is hot to the touch, it’s possible that it shut down due to thermal management issues. Leave the device in the open air until cool and try to turn it on again.
Battery Won’t Hold a Charge
Battery lasts for abnormally short time periods under normal use.
Power-Intense Settings are Enabled
Before more drastic measures, try disabling Bluetooth, Background Apps, and Location Services which may drain battery faster than normal.
Battery Needs Replacement
If the phone still won’t hold a charge, it may need to be replaced. See the Battery Replacement guide for help.
Auto Brightness Misbehaving
Brightness adjusting too readily or unexpectedly, making screen hard to read.
Disable Auto Brightness
Go to Settings, then Display, then tap the auto brightness button to disable or enable auto brightness.
Use Third Party Brightness App
If you are still not satisfied with the brightness adjustments provided in you stock LG V30 Plus, you can install a third party app to control it for you, such as Lux Auto Brightness.
Fingerprint Sensor Not Working
Fingerprint sensor does not recognize your fingerprint.
Re-take Fingerprint
It could be that when you first uploaded your fingerprint to the device, that it did not read correctly. Try deleting your old fingerprints that are not working and re-uploading them to the device.
Alternative Form of Login
Lastly, if fingerprint sensor is still not working, a serious issue probably exists and we suggest using another form of login, such as a passphrase or voice recognition.

another fingerprint reader problem with solution
Still love my v30 so last year I replaced the battery ( i’ve done it many times on my friends and family’s iPhone’s) the battery was advertised as being slightly higher capacity 3300mah instead of the stock 3000. Seems the physical size was also a couple .001 thousandths larger in the corner where the wires connect, this over time (10 months) caused the adhesive on rear cover to fail and the pogo pins going the the rear finger print reader to loose contact. The button kept working due to the contacts being in a different location.
short term solution was to ad very thin piece of double sided carpet tape behind contacts to space out the contact pad.
long-term I have orderd another new battery, different brand
