If your Kindle 10 is plugged in, but the light does not change color or remain charged if unplugged, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Battery has been completely drained
Sometimes if the Kindle has been completely drained of battery it may take longer to recharge. Charge it for a longer period of time. Leave it in the charger for 24 to 48 hours.
Faulty Charging Adaptor
Change the Micro USB cord that the Kindle 10 is used to charge with. Use a high-quality cable to maintain your Kindle 10.
Faulty Power Source
It is possible the electrical outlet is faulty. Use a different outlet.
Case Blocking Connection
Make sure nothing is blocking the port. If you have a protective case, remove it to ensure a good connection with the charging adaptor. Keep the port clean and dust free.
Charging Port Blocked
Look for any dust or debris within the charging port. You can use a toothpick, soft brush, or compressed air to remove the debris.
Charging Connector Loose
Make sure the Kindle is secure and do not use it when charging. Moving it around may cause the charging connector to come loose. Check if this is the issue by gently moving it when charging. If the charging disconnects, the connector has come loose and needs adjustment.
Battery needs replacement
If the other solutions do not work, it is possible the rechargeable battery is dead. This component will need replacement. Follow this guide to replace the battery.
Status light broken
If the screen indicates the Kindle is responsive after charging, the status light may be the issue. It can be replaced. However, this is unlikely because the lifespan of the LED light is 100,000 hours, or over 100 years, which is longer than the expected use of Kindle. If the light does not turn on, it is more likely one of the other causes.
