I’ve just installeed thr DRV-N520 with the Kenwood DMX8019DABS & all seems to work OK except the date on the all the recorded files is wrong as it shows 02/01/17. I assume this is the default date / time from the factory. I haven’t driven it yet - but will it auto-update to the correct datew when I do? I have set the time zone & correctly.

Just gone for a short drive & the dash-cam time has been updated by the GPS - I assume - so all is good now with the recordef files showing the correct date / time. It’s a shame this is not mentioned in the manual or the many you-tube vids on installing & setting up this unit. Surely it must have happened to others……

My collision warning sounds inappropriacy. you mention replacing the sensor within the camera lens. where is a replacement camera lens obtained from?

Just got my DRV-N520 installed and it only registers as a front view camera and won't come up as a dash cam so I can't access it nor use its features. Is it an installation issue? The guy that did it said he plugged it all in correctly. I'm hopping it's not the head unit. I have a DDX9020DABS. The manual and on the Kenwood site say the DRV-N520 works with this model.

Sterling Fetterman -

Kenwood Excelon DMX706S with Maestro RR
dan koker -
Same with mine. Just front camera not dash cam so no settings. Kenwood doesn’t seem to offer support at all. I’m using a DMX 8019 Dab

Okay after tweaking with it and checking all the cables. I figured it out. In the radio unit: go to settings> Camera>Camera Assignment > Dash Cam. And tap on the hood of the car not the front of the car. This should give you the menu and all the missing options.

THIS! Have been frustrated for MONTHS then finally paid closer attention due to this comment (THANK YOU!!).
YOU HAVE TO TAP ON THE CIRCLE THAT'S RIGHT ON THE WINDSHIELD ******NOT****** THE CIRCLE ON THE FRONT BUMPER.
The circle that's right on top of the windshield is the "dash cam" setting.
The circle that's right on top of the front bumper is the "front camera" setting. (do people have cameras in their front bumpers???)
JEEZ WISH THEY WOULD JUST PUT WORDS ON TOP OF EACH CIRCLE OR AT LEAST SPECIFIED THIS IN THE MANUAL (if it's there I didn't see it after many, many reviews & re-reviews re: installation & setup). Would have saved me MONTHS of frustration.
David Hicks -
Just to add that you need to check if you have correctly assigned the camera as a “dashcam” rather than as a “front camera” in the camera assignment settings of your kenwood head unit. this fixed my issue. thanks to @jayeff for pointing me to this.

Every SD card I put in this thing gives me an error, and all the reformats fail. I’ve only had it for a few months. What a waste of money.

Hi I just installed my DRV-N520 Dash Cam to my Kenwood DMX 1057 XR radio. Everything seems to be running good except the problem is that on my radio which is built for this dash cam, I cannot see the settings or any of the files from the SD card. All I can see is the live picture. It is a very strange problem I cannot seem to fix. Please help!
