Vacuum won't power on
You push the power button and the vacuum does not respond.
Vacuum not connected to power source
Follow the power cord to the power source, ensure proper installation of prongs into the outlet. If not plugged in, plug into the power source. Be sure power button on vacuum cleaner is in the off position before plugging back in.
Tripped Circuit Breaker/ Blown Fuse
Check service panel for tripped breakers/blown fuses. If breaker is tripped, reset it. If fuse is blown, replace it. If vacuum cleaner is plugged in, be sure power button is in the off position before resetting breaker/changing fuse.
Vacuum cleaner starts but shuts off
You power on vacuum cleaner but it won't stay powered on.
Tripped thermal protector in canister
This vacuum is equipped with a thermal protector. Turn off and unplug vacuum and allow it to cool and the thermal protector to reset. The thermal protector may overheat due to a clog in the dustbin. Vacuum lacks suction

Full/clogged dustbin

Dust bin open
The dust bin may not be closed all the way. Close dust bin until release button is latched. You should hear a "click." For more detailed instructions, check out our guide on how to [http://|empty the dust bin] and look at the last step.
Clogged hose/airflow passages
Your vacuum hose may have an obstruction. Pull out the handle on the hose by turning the removal ring in either direction. Remove any clogs in the handle; shake the hose to remove any clogs. You may have to use a long, rigid stick to remove the obstruction. Insert handle back in place and return ring to its original position. Dirty/clogged filters
Your filter(s) may be dirty or clogged. Follow our guide on [http://|removing the dust filter] in the dust bin and clean filter if necessary. If you are missing the included filter brush, use a gentle brush such as an old toothbrush. If you wash the filter, DO NOT use soap, only water. Allow it to dry for 24 hours before reinstalling. Hole in vacuum hose
A hole in the vacuum hose will not allow proper suction. If there is a visible hole in the hose it needs to be replaced. To test for a hole that may not be visible by sight, you can remove the hose from the machine. Pass water through one end and check for leaks along the tubing.

Partial obstruction in nozzle

Check fan blades

Power cord won't rewind
You press the power cord rewind button and it won't rewind.
Dirty power cord
Clean the power cord using a damp cloth. Dry cord with a dry cloth or allow it to air dry before [http://|rewinding the power cord].
Cord jammed

I have the same problem as those above me. I changed the bag on my Kenmore Elite upright vacuum, and now I cannot get the lid to close. I have not seen anyone reply with a solution. And yes, I have installed the bag correctly. I have used Kenmore vacuums for over 50 years.

Plug the vacuum in,it turns on acts as if it’s vacuuming but has no suction, you detach it from the powerhead it stops no suction nothing no power. If you attract the wand n hand back to the power head he’ll start running again but still no suction but beaters turn and acts as if it’s working. Have taken it apart n deep cleaned vacuum but still nothin. Any thoughts???
