Wheel Sticking
One, or more, of the wheels will not spin.
Loose Lug Nut
Check to make sure that the lug nut attaching the wheel to the RC car is not loose. If it is loose, you must tighten the lug nut. However, make sure not to make it too tight, otherwise it could prevent the wheel from moving entirely.
Object Obstructing the Wheel
Often, objects may get wedged or stuck in between the wheels. To check and see if this is the case, turn the car over and examine the wheels to make sure nothing is caught between them. If there is something caught between the wheels and you are unable to remove it, please refer to the wheel replacement guide here.
Motor Not Running
The motor in the Batmobile will not start or stops running during use.
Dead/Malfunctioning Battery
Ensure that the battery is fully charged. If the battery is not charged, the motor will not receive power and thus will not start or function. To charge the battery, remove the battery by pushing down the connection clip attached to the wires and pull apart. Make sure to charge the battery for at least 30 minutes. Then, reattach the battery and check to make sure this resolves the issue. If it does not, please continue reading.
Motor Circuit Short
In some cases, the electric motor may short out. A short is caused by too much power or heat going into the motor. If the motor shorts out, it must be replaced. To learn how to replace the motor, take a look at the guide here.
Steering Failing
The steering function is no longer working.
Battery Issue
If you hear the servo whirring as if it’s trying to move but isn’t working, there may be an issue with the battery. If the battery is very low, the car may not have enough power to turn the steering servo. Try charging the battery. If charging the battery does not help there may be another issue.
Faulty Servo
If the servo is not making noise at all and is not turning, it may be faulty or damaged. Remove the steering servo and replace it following this guide.
Servo Horn off Center
If the servo horn is off center the car will have trouble turning. This can be readjusted by removing the servo horn completely and then reattaching it. You can follow the guide above to see how to correctly reattach the servo horn.
Headlights Malfunctioning
The headlights will not function.
Battery Issue
Since the headlights are powered from the battery, this is easily fixed by checking that the battery is fully powered. Please refer to the Dead/Malfunctioning Battery section under Motor Not Running to check that your battery is properly powered and connected correctly before continuing. If the headlights appear to still not work, then change the LED bulb itself.
Warning: Replacing the LED bulbs will require some soldering knowledge.
Camera Malfunctioning
The POV camera with HUD/heads up display, located in the cockpit of the Batmobile will not operate.
Warning: This issue is not easily fixed. Fortunately, this issue is fairly uncommon.
Lens
Make sure there is a lens on the HUD/ Heads up display camera. If it is cracked or non-existent, this could be a major malfunctioning error; however, easily replaceable. More info provided on how to properly reinstall a lens to come.
Camera Circuit Withholding Power
There is a power source connected to the back side of the camera, on the top, left, interior of the cockpit. Unfortunately, some of the wires connecting the camera to its power source may have succumbed to water damage or overuse. If you are unable to connect your smartphone to the camera, or the display is distorted, this might be what is causing the technical difficulties. Although this problem is not common, this is always a risk with manufactured electronics.
Electronic Issue
In some limited cases, the camera may malfunction due to electronics. If Mattel provided a computer chip, this issue could be resolved with some complicated soldering, but a successful job in completing this task would require extensive knowledge of soldering small computer components.
Broken Lens
Make sure there is a lens on the HUD/ Heads up display camera. If it is cracked or non-existent this could be a major malfunctioning error. Unfortunately, the plastic lens on the POV camera is not easily replaced. A broken lens is almost always unfixable. Luckily, because of the placement of the lens, this will be a fairly uncommon problem. However, because this problem is difficult to repair, a repair guide for this problem is not provided. This should only become an issue with the hardest of outdoor crashes due to the hydraulic system, which should act as a deterrent to a broken lens.

None of what was written above is helpful, I purchased the Batmobile brand new. Had trouble connecting to the wifi, and the camera won't turn on automatically like it's supposed to.

Camera not working. All else is except no transmission just a grey screen. I have a feeling it related to software not updated for new iOS.
Anyone else resolve there camera issues?
Claudio Burgos - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have the same issue. I have reset the password and everything. Never had a problem before, boxed it up for the last since months, took it out and nothing!
Corey Dowdell -
Maybe they need to update the app to fix the bug and to align the software with the latest ios version.
marcaces -
I am having the same issue, although the car is still driving a little upsetting.
Bryan Freeman -
Has anyone resolved the grey screen issue? Purchased yesterday and can’t see on camera just a grey screen?
emmaagatha -
I was playing with my Batmobile, everything connected, all working well.
I decided to turn off and find another place better to run…it was off by 5 minuts.
After turn on, wifi never worked again.
I can’t find the wifi connection from car in any mobile (Ipad, Iphone, S8, S9, S10).
I’ve tried everything, master reset, recharge the battery…new battery but wihout success.
I’d to know if is easy to convert this thing for a RC control without app, using a Futaba Radio.

I too am facing an issue with the camera. The app screen shows only grey.i hope there is a fix soon :(

The Batmobile starts but the camera will not connect to the app and the car will not move. We have deleted and re-downloaded the app and charged the battery. Any suggestions or advice?
Nikkia Asante - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I tried the android app and it works absolutely fine. Looks like the issue is with the IOS app. Hope they can fix it. More people need to review the app on the app store and mention this issue

Anyone have issues with the liquid smoke leaking? Not sure if I I over filled it or there is a leak
wwmanman - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
The hydraulic on my car doesn’t hold it up when driving. It slowly slips down. And when I try to raise, it basically twitches up and down before staying up. Any help ?
Anthony vazquez - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Mine bumps its butt up and down about three times too. It my stay up or it might go down but it never looks like it fully locks in place on the up position

Camera has very limited view unless cockpit door open, is this normal?
cshuldberg - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Yes, that is normal. In fact, somewhere the app (I think) tells you to remember to open the cockpit. It’d be nice if the cockpit door were easily removable because when you’re driving around with it open, it’s easy to catch on things.

If anyone is still paying attention, I was just using the app on my iPad with iOS 14 and it was working fine. I had to reset the Batmobile, though, and get the password set up again.
Also, you still can’t record the video.
Walter Las - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Oh really? Is this on an Apple device? I can’t get the WiFi to connect to the car. I get past the first Password but it won’t accept the second one.
samuel86harris -
Yes, it’s an iPhone. I had to go through the reset process which is something like:
1. Turn on Bat mobile
2. Insert thin end of paperclip (or similar) into tiny hole near battery compartment until you feel a small button ‘click’
3. Keep holding it there for ten seconds or so
4. Remove paperclip and turn off Bat mobile
5. Wait another ten seconds or so
6. Turn on Bat mobile
7. Open the app and go through the Wi-Fi process again
That worked for me, hopefully you can get it going.

I'm having problems with it not going in reverse.. picked it up new for my son and he used it maybe 3 times and it was working perfectly but after 6 months away in the Philippines when he come home the reverse no longer works. It's all tight and everything works but soon as you go to drive in reverse it dont make a sound. Any idea what the problem could be?? I dont know if it's the car or the remote.
Daniel Evans - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
This does not help me whatsoever. I got mine brand new. It worked Great for a while but then all of a sudden it would not turn on, I tried resetting it, I tried recharging the battery multiple times. I just don’t know what else I can do, I don’t want to waste money on a new battery if it won’t work, I also don’t want to buy a new Batmobile if I don’t have to. please help.

Why would my hydraulics stop working?
Patty Morgan - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Hi Fixit peeps,
I've had the my batmobilr for a while. To say it has challenged my patience is an unstatement. I love the toy, but problems started when a couple of years ago (I think) Mattel decided to make a "secure connection" for the wifi, requiring a fairly comlex set of steps requiring resetting the vehicle & copy & pasting passwords from the app to the phone/wifi settings.
I at first had to hassle Mattel USA, then Mattel OZ to find out how to do this. They now have instructions on the app.
However, trying today, for the first time in a long while, (& using their instructions), I finally got to the stage of connecting the batmobile to the app, having the control screen responding to my finger touch, yet the vehicle won't move!!! AArrgghh!. It's charged, runs (rumbly rumbly), but nothing on the vehicle will move / respond including the steering, wheels & guns. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Bleeings. MIke G
James Meyers - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I'm dealing with the exact same issue and I really want to know what the problem is. It appears to be successfully connecting to the car through the controller app (iPhone), but nothing responds.
Seriously - anyone have any ideas? Could it be a frequency issue? Like, it says 2.4GHz on the instructions but I have no idea if that's relevant or not. It's such a dope RC Car!! Would be even cooler if I could drive it.
Tyler Nielsen -
Hi, it’s possible that the battery is getting weak. I’ve gone through a couple of the original batteries and they don’t seem to be built for longevity. I’d suggest replacing the battery pack and resetting the vehicle at the button by the battery storage area then pair with app again.
Reddit link for the battery swap.

Okay, that's a solid idea. I was thinking about taking it into my local hobby store and seeing about adding a receiver and controller. But replacing the battery is probably the cheapest place to start. The more I research, the more it looks like it's no longer functional. Trying to modify it might be the only option nowadays. Thanks!
Tyler Nielsen -
I’m looking to buy one of these second hand. But, I’m hesitant because the control app is no longer available. Is there any chance of modifying it for a universal RC controller?
