The speaker will not turn on
Pressing the power button results in nothing happening.
The battery may be defective
Try charging the speaker for four hours with included charger then check charging status of the battery. The battery level indicator lights should begin illuminating over time. If not, replace the battery.
The buttons may have failed
The speaker charges but you cannot turn device on. The device may have accumulated moisture inside, allow the device to dry out. If problems remains, the button’s circuit board may be defective and may need replacement.
Bluetooth will not connect to the device
The speaker powers on, but will not pair with phone or other device.
The battery may be low
Check the speaker’s battery gauge next to the control buttons. The battery charge levels are indicated by the amount of “lit” leds. Fewer lights means a lower charge. If the charge meter indicates low battery levels, charge the speaker and attempt to re-pair with phone.
Speaker will not pair with phone
Restart the phone and the speaker, then attempt to re-pair the two devices.
Phone software may be out of date
Update the OS on phone or device, then trying to pair with speaker again
Bluetooth chip may have failed
If the speaker does not pair after trying all of the above, the bluetooth chip on the motherboard may have failed and needs to be replaced.
Speaker will not produce sound
The device will power on, pair, but not produce any output sound including music played from phone or paired device.
Battery is not charged
Plug the JBL Charge 2 into the charger. Check the charge indicator on top of device to see if battery is charging.
Phone may be out of range of Charge 2
Place the phone or other pairing device close to the Bluetooth speaker. The Charge 2 Bluetooth range is about 33 feet or less. This will minimize interference and distortion.
Sound may be muted on phone or Charge 2
Check the volume levels on phone and the Charge 2 by turning volume down all the way then turning it up slowly till audible levels are produced.
Speakers may be blown out
Check the speakers by pressing the Bluetooth button on the device. It should make an audible sound if the speakers are working.
The Sound track may be paused
Check phone to see if the audio output to the Charge 2 is paused. If paused, resume playing the audio.
The speaker will not charge
The speaker is plugged in, but the charging indicator does not increase or indicate the speaker is charging.
The charging port on the device may be damaged
Check the ports on device for damage; such as charring or broken metal contacts on connectors.
Check if the battery is holding a charge by using a voltmeter, see removal – replacement guide.
Leave plugged in overnight – charger may be slow. Check the charge status lights on top should be full or fully charged in 4 hours.
Charging cable or ac/dc converter has failed
Test this by using an charging device for a similar speaker. If it does not charge, use another cable that is compatible with device. If device still does not charge, the battery may be defective.

When I turn on the speaker it shows how much charge remains with the lights. When I connect it to charge it indicates almost full charge, even though charge was almost zero. It stays connected for hours, but never gets to full charge, not even when it was brand new. I’s been just like this from the start. Can you help? I see you never answer here. contact me at masterskywalker@live.com

Be careful with the ‘aftermarket’ type batteries that mention something like, ‘for Charge 2, Charge 4 etc etc’, the pin outs on the battery connector are different between ‘Charge’ models even if the same colours, the cables are a different orientation.
(The Red ‘charge’ and ‘power for the unit’ are the opposite way round).
Check on the old battery if you kept it. Use a multi tester to test the output of each pin. Even when depleated, the pin for ‘Power for the unit’, should give a constant, the ‘charge’ pin should give nothing.
You can swap them over, there is a tiny locking tab on each pin, inside the plastic socket. Depress it lightly with a fine screwdriver, and it should easily slide out.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi when I plug my JBL Charge 2+ the power button lights but it doesn't show if it's charging? Please help

Please check the usual, (Charger output, cable function etc)
Look to see if you have aquired an impressive collection of lint/dust/animal fur in the usb port itself on the device, use a fine paint brush or an old dry toothbrush, or a needle to fish it out. (Scratching the usb contacts lightly a few times with the needle will actually help with the electrical contact).
But please also check the ‘shape and form’ of the usb port on the back of the unit.
If the port seems ‘oval’, very gently bend it back in to shape, (use a fine blade, nail scissors, fine screwdriver or similar), insert between the body of the unit and the usb port, but be careful not to over bend it, (the outer, larger side of the port is a light guage split metal affair, to enable forming in manufacturing).
The cable should be a tight fit afterwards.
Let us know how you get on.
