Monitor Unit Won't Turn On
The Monitor Unit will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Power Isn't On
Check to make sure the Monitor Unit and Camera are turned on. Hold the power button on the Monitor Unit for two seconds to turn on (check the Power LED indicator). Ensure that the power adapters are properly connected. If the problem still persists, the battery may need to be recharged or replaced. For the Camera, locate the On/Off switch and ensure it is positioned on the On side.
Faulty Battery
Check to make sure that the battery is installed correctly. The battery should be completely in the port and connected by three black, yellow, and red wires. If it is, make sure the battery is charged by connecting the Monitor Unit to a power socket. Consider taking a look at the battery guide. If the battery is plugged in correctly and charged, but the Monitor is still not working, the battery is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement battery.
Battery Not Charging
There are a number of possible reasons the battery is failing to charge. Check to make sure the USB Output Adapter is properly connected. Then check that the battery pack is properly connected inside the battery compartment. If it is not properly connected, reconnect the wire tab of the battery. If the problem still persists, try using the other USB Power Cable included.
Battery Not Holding Charge
It is recommended to try a battery "reset." Unplug the battery from the device for 20-30 minutes before putting the battery pack back into the device.
Bad Display
Check to make sure that the power cord is correctly connected to the Camera then to the power socket. If it is, then the Monitor Unit or Camera are faulty. If the screen is not clear and contains spots or marks, the optical lens might be dirty.
Distorted/No Audio
You have trouble listening to sounds through the Monitor Unit.
Volume Isn't On
Check that the volume is turned on and set to high. Test the audio by listening in close range and large distance. If the audio is only distorted because of long distance, there is reception interference. To change volume, press the MENU button, and press either the LEFT button or RIGHT button until the Volume icon is highlighted. Then, press the UP button or DOWN button to set volume to your desired level.
Faulty Speakers
If the audio sound is distorted when listening in close range, the speakers may be faulty and need to be replaced.
Reception Interference
You have trouble connecting the Camera and Monitor Unit.
Weak Signal
Check to make sure that the Camera and Monitor Unit are not too far apart. If they're in close range, the battery power may be too low, in which case you will have to recharge it. Other electronic devices may be interfering with the signal. Make sure they are placed away from the Camera and Monitor Unit or turned off.
Choppy Video
Adjust the antenna on the Camera to a vertical position for best quality signal. Use of other 2.4GHz products, such as WiFi routers and microwave ovens, may cause interference. Keep the Camera and Monitor Unit at least 5ft (1.5m) away from these items, or turn them off. If you require more distance between the Camera and Monitor Unit, consider replacing the antenna for a stronger signal.
Loud Beeping Noise
The latest version of the device has fixed this problem. Causes of noise may be due to low battery, alarm ring alert, or out of signal alert. The Camera and Monitor Unit may be too far away and out of range.
Night Vision Sporadic or Not Working
The night vision LED automatically activates given a low level of ambient light in the Monitor Unit's surroundings. Ensure that the monitor is placed in an environment with a relatively constant level of ambient light. If the problem persists, turn on room lights to force the monitor out of night vision mode and try again.
Buttons Not Functioning
"You have getting the buttons to work properly or connect to the device."
Buttons Are Stuck
Sometimes sticky things can get stuck in the buttons and prevent them from moving. If the buttons are stuck, follow the first step of this guide to clean the buttons once the screen is off.
Buttons Not Connecting
If the buttons can be pressed but are not completing their task, make sure the Monitor Unit is on. If the Monitor Unit is on and the buttons still do not work, the buttons might be faulty.

I have Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens Infant Optics.
The screen suddenly turned black and nothing could be seen. After attempting to troubleshoot, the screen image started flashing in and out of brightness, very low to very dark. How can I resolve this issue?
jessicalynn444 - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have had this same problem. Is there a fix to this issue? Black screen happened randomly, but I still can hear the audio.
jon flaig -
I have the same problem, any solution?
Freley HIES -
My screen went black but the audio remained, as well. I pulled the battery and after a few restarts the picture returned. I called Infant Optics and they said it was defective. They replaced the whole system under warranty (it was 15 months old). Great customer services fast and friendly.

I have a DXR-8 and even when I have the unit right next to me it won't identify the signal. What is wrong with it? My daughter touched the remote once and it stopped working.
Ashika Patel Balani - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I am having the same problem. I have a DXR-8 and my monitor keeps saying Warning no signal or unit is out of range and they are 1 ft from each other. When I first turned it on it showed the picture "live", now it will only show the warning screen or the unit is activating screen. No picture anymore at all. Does anyone have an answer or a possible fix?
cowboy_up2369 -
Same problem with mine! It worked great for a couple days now it’s saying no signal when it was fine before.
AnnMare Cruzann_ -
Did anyone ever come up with a solution to this problem?
jessa.woods -
I’m having this same issue. Any solution?
Katie -
I had the same issue and just found the solution in the user manual. My son touched the monitor and unpaired the camera from it.
Menu-camera icon-add-camera 1-then hold down the pair button underneath the camera when the monitor prompts you to do so. After 3sec they will be paired and the picture will display on the monitor.
Amanda Hernandez -
The monitors microphone doesn't appear to be working anymore -- I used to be able to hold a talk button and talk through a speaker in the camera and be heard in that room but I can't find any troubleshooting for that problem.
Gregory Philip Styne - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Did you find a solution?
Lindsay D -
Mine worked for a few days and now it keeps saying no signal even when they are right next to each other.
Hai - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I have only had my replacement monitor for 5 days and even with the camera and monitor are next too each other I keep getting an out of coverage signal warning.
Hai - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
The temperature indicator has said 69/70 (goes between the two) for the last 4 days. I know that is not the temperature in the room all the time, and it Ian obviously stuck at that temp. I can’t find any troubleshooting tips.
Sarah Fama - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Monitor randomly beeps. It is not out of range (indicator shows full bars), and it has either been plugged up or charging so it is not a low battery either. The alarm is also not on. What could this random beep be? There is not pattern to it and it seems to occur more often at night.

No longer getting a clear picture on the screen, it is now hazy and light pink, any ideas on how to fix the resolution?
Kevin Joseph - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Did you ever figure this out? Mine just started doing the same thing.
marsw810 -
I too am now having this issue. Any fixes??
Amola Argiros -
Curious. Did any of you ever find resolution to this? My screen suddenly turned hazy and pink as well.
Tung Huynh -
Mine does this when the power cord isn’t inserted to the camera all the way. I make sure it’s power cord is pushed in all the way, then turn off the camera. When I turn it back on the colour returns to normal.
Laura -
@Laura, thank you so much for your reply! That did the trick!!
Tung Huynh -
The camera became really pixelated at night, from one moment to the next. There is no “new” interferences, WiFi’s routers etc. and I can’t seem to fix it. We are one room over, so it’s not the connection.
lindamfruits - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Any fix for this issue? Mine is totally grainy now (night vision).
Erin Conklin -
I had a similar issue, and Laura’s answer worked for me so I’m hoping to pay it forward as well!

My cord happened to be pushed in all the way, but unplugging the camera, and then turning the camera off and on did the trick! I hope it works for you as well..

Just bought an additional camera from amazon and when we pair it the screen is green. Any idea why?
our first monitor is not green. We are using the lens that came with it which is just the standard aluminum lens.

My monitor is no longer showing the battery signal in the corner and shuts off when it comes unplugged. I’ve had it for a month!
Meghan - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
A similar issue is happening to us as well. When we unplug the monitor it turns off, however we can see the battery icon in the corner and it’s showing the battery is fully charged.
We’ve only used the monitor for 9 days! Has anyone been able to find a solution to this issue?
Kmog -
Figured out the issue on my end, not sure if it will solve your issue as well, but the battery in my monitor was unplugged. Looked like it was plugged in when we looked at it originally, but I just realized it was no longer fully snapped in. Not sure how that happened, but plugging it back in fixed the issue!

I have 2 monitors for my 2 children. I can’t keep them next to each other at night (one works and the other doesn’t). Any ideas to keep tbem monitors close to each other at night so I can see both kids?
Sadie B - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Our unit won’t charge or connect to power. Plugging in the usb does nothing. I replaced the battery but have the same problem so I presume it’s an issue with the USB connection on the circuit board. Opened it up but don’t see any obvious ways to fix this (no loose connections to solder for example). Any advice?? Thanks!
Reid - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Update: looks like the micro USB port is dead. Anyone attempted to replace it? Wondering how hard that would be.
Reid -
The white noise coming from monitor is pulsating. Turning it off and turning it back on doesn’t work. Range doesn’t matter. After 18 months of constant use.
that_ranger - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
This is happening to our monitor, did you ever figure this out?
Thanks!
rcochraniii -
Is it when you’re using a cellphone near the monitor? I figured out if I’m using my phone too close to the monitor it messes with the signal/sound.
Emma Robbins -
I just unpaired the device with the camera and then re-paired it. That fixed the problem.
rcochraniii -
When i try to turn the monitor off, the screen turns to white, only way to get to power down is pull the battery. Little more than a year old, very disappointing. All help with this?

I have Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens Infant Optics. Wont hold a charge and must always be plugged in. Reception isnt the best for the money we paid.
Harold Zech - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
The audio keeps cutting out. We are one room away (less than 20 feet and only one wall in between monitor and camera) the WiFi router and microwave oven are both on the other side of the house. The signal keeps dropping from 5 bars to 1 causing the sound to cut out. The antenna is up so I don’t know why we are having a problem!
Emma Robbins - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
Is it sitting next to your cellphone? I have to turn off the wireless on my phone when this happens, and it solves the problem.

I have a problem with the buttons of my monitor. The video is ok, but any button works and of course I cannot move the camera or do anything with the monitor. Do you have any idea what’s happening? Thanks.

Our monitor is less than a year old and we continue to have problems with it. Since the third month we had it it never held a charge. I've done all of the trouble shooting accordingly and nothing works. As of today it went completely out. Again I've done all the trouble shooting and it wont even turn on now. I'm hoping the manufacturer can make this right

I have the DXR 8. My monitor will not power up. I replaced the battery. Monitor shows blue LED, indicating it's charged, but will still not power up. Any further suggestions? A new monitor is over $100… would like to not have to get a new one!

I am having the same problem. The Screen will not turn on when I try to power it up, but the LED blue light is on. Suggestions?
Lauren -
I ended up contacting support. After all of the troubleshooting suggestions (using a different USB cable, different plug, different outlet) as well as buying a new battery with no results, they said that it was officially broken and I could send it back if I'd had it less than a year. Unfortunately, we’d had it 18 months, so I am down a monitor. :(
Michelle St. Amand -
Same here! Is there anything customer support will do to help… The monitor is nearly 2 yrs old, but its not very professional to not help try to fix it

I got one DXR-8 and suddenly it wont turn on anymore, the battery is still working cuz when we plug the monitor on the power source it shows that battery status as fully charged but when we press the power button, it didnt work.
I have even tried do remove the battery and tried to turn it on on the power charge, unsuccessful.
The problem can be on the power button? can i remove the screen to fix it?
vineth.kano - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0

Hi! I am having this SAME issue! So first my battery was never fully charging AND the sound was super low, even on the highest setting. Originally, it was REALLY loud so I know that isn’t normal. They sent me a replacement screen portion of the monitor and the battery is working well now, but the sound is still so low no matter how high I turn the volume up! I’m wondering if it has something to do with the camera since that’s the only portion that isn’t new? Did you resolve your issue? Would love to know.

Rainy day Fisher - crwdns2934203:0crwdne2934203:0
I’ve had this product for a few years and love it for its simplicity and focus on one thing: baby monitoring. Recently however the signal to the monitor has severely degraded. I’ve done basic trouble shooting with the camera placement and the monitor but it’s simply much worse than just a few days ago. No new interference, at least none from our house and neighbors are 30 ft away. I reckon it’s the antenna on the monitor and or on the camera. I saw a mention in this article that the antenna can be replaced but the link for the instructions is broken and I get an Access Denied. Maybe the article has been moved or archived? If so, do you have any guidance?
Any help would be great as I’m guessing others have had similar experiences.
Best

DXR-8 monitor keeps freezing while on. It has frozen with display on, then tonight it froze with the screen off. The power indicator is green. Once it was plugged in the other it wasn’t. Once frozen no buttons work. Unit won’t even power down. Only fix is to remove the battery and re-install it.
Is it the battery? Is it the monitor unit? I have no idea but it us a safer paper weight currently than a baby monitor.
