The controller does not show any sign of being turned on.

Toggle the steering stick to the left or right until you hear “Factory Reset.” Push the checkmark button located on the front of the controller. Once you hear the “Warning: Factory Reset,” press the checkmark button again to confirm. A series of beeps will play to verify that you have reset the controller successfully.

Power buttons on both the cars and controller of Hot Wheels AI Intelligent Race System are prone to jamming. The power switches are located on both the bottom of the cars and the top of the controller. Move the switches back and forth from on to off position and make sure the switch flips easily. If the switch gets stuck or the light is unresponsive, the switch is jammed. To fix switch jamming remove the top casing of the car by removing the two small screws on the bottom front of the toy vechile. After removing the casing of the car, remove the four J1 Philips head screws on the top part of the body of the car. Next, remove the two small screws over the transmitter with a j0 Philips head. Pop loose the top of the body exposing the circuits of the car. The on/off switch is located below the circuit board. Lift the board and check for debris that may be jamming the switch.

The Hot Wheels AI Intelligent Race System cars are equipped with a receiver that is located on the bottom of the car between both sets of wheels. Debris or damage to these receivers can cause connection problems when using the controller. Check bottom side of the car if no debris or damage is present receivers may need replacement. Receivers are located by removing the top casing of the car. Do this by removing the two screws at the front of the car with a J0 Philips head screwdriver. Pop the casing lose to expose the body of the car. Remove the four J1 Philips head screws on the top part of the body of the car. Next, remove the two small screws over the transmitter with a j0 Philips head. Pop loose the top of the body exposing the circuits of the car. Lift the circuit board and wheel bearings to expose the transmitter. Check transmitter for damage or disconnections. If no harm is present, the transmitter will need to be replaced. The car veers to the left or right when being driven.

With all of the crashing that these cars encounter, their steering will sometimes need to be adjusted. To adjust the steering, connect the car to the controller and press the black circular button next to the ‘on’ button. Toggle the steering stick left and right until you hear “Adjust Steering.” Push the checkmark button and follow the voice prompts. Drive the car forward and backward without steering to see if it turns left or right on its own. Correct the steering by pushing the steering stick in the opposite direction of which the car turned. Each time you turn the steering stick left or right; a ‘beep’ will confirm that you’ve adjusted the steering one notch in that direction. Once you are satisfied with the steering, and the car seems to be driving straight, press the checkmark button again.

The wheels on the cars don’t spin or spin very slowly.

The tires might have dust, dirt or debris stuck between the wheels and the car body. Remove the top casing of the car by removing the two screws on the bottom front side of the car using a small Phillips head screwdriver. Pop the casing from the body and wheels of the car. This will openly expose the wheels and bearings. Use a damp cloth to clean the wheels and bearings.

The exclamations and directions coming from the controllers’ speakers are hard to hear.

Check the controller to see if it is set to a low volume. Press the “Confirm Selection” which is the blue check button on the right-hand side. Toggle left or right to adjust to the desired volume. Press the “Confirm Selection” again to select volume.

Blow into the speakers using a dust-off disposable compressed gas duster. If cleaning is unsuccessful, remove the casing from the controller by taking out the six screws on the back of the controller. After removing screws pop the casing lose and inspect the speaker for dust or damage.

If water damage occurs, it is possible to remove the casing of the controller. Take out the six screws on the back with a j1 Philips head screwdriver. Pop the casing loose and leave in rice for a few hours to absorb excess water from the device. Diagnose the vehicle and controller once dry.
