The Printer Does Not Turn On
Even when pressing the power button, the printer does not respond.
The Printer Is Not Receiving Sufficient Power
If the printer is plugged into a surge protector or power bar, try plugging it directly to the wall. If it is not, try switching it to a different outlet.
The AC Power Adapter Is Faulty
In some cases, your printer may have a faulty AC Power Adapter. In this case, you can replace your AC Power Adapter.
The Wireless Print Function Does Not Work
You are unable to print wirelessly from a computer or smartphone.
The Printer Is Not on the Correct Network
In order to print, your computer or smartphone must be connected to the same network as the printer. If you have multiple networks in your home or office, check to make sure you are on the same network as your printer.
To change the network on your printer:
- On the touch screen, press the Wireless icon, then press the Wireless Menu icon (shaped like a gear).
- Press Wireless Settings, then Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select the network you would like to connect to, then follow the on-screen instructions
Network Is Blocking Print Jobs
In certain cases, your network may not allow wireless printing. Try contacting your service provider if you believe this may be the case.
There Is a Printhead Error
The printer screen or your computer displays "There is a problem with the printhead."
The Printer Needs to be Reset
A software problem may be causing this issue. A hard reset may solve your problem. To perform a hard reset:
- Power on the printer
- Remove the power cable from the back of the printer
- Wait 60 seconds
- Plug in and power on the printer
The Printhead Needs to be Cleaned
You can use an automated tool to clean the printhead. To do this:
- Press the Setup icon
- Press Printer Maintenance
- Press Clean Printhead. There are three cleaning stages and between each a test page will be printed.
- Examine the test page for print quality
- If the print quality is still poor, press Proceed to continue to the next level of cleaning. Repeat this process on each step if necessary.
- If the print quality is normal, press Done.
The Printhead Needs to be Aligned
You can use an automated service to align the printhead. To do this:
- Press the Setup icon
- Press Printer Maintenance
- Press Align Printhead
- After the printer prints the alignment page, Press OK
The Printer Needs to be Restored to Factory Defaults
If hard resetting the printer did not work, you can also try a Factory Restore. Keep in mind a Factory Restore will remove all your saved settings, so you will have to go through the set up process again. To perform the Factory Restore:
- Press the setup icon
- Press Restore
- Press Restore Factory Defaults and Select Restore
The Printhead Is Faulty

The Printer Does Not Print Any Pages
The printer will not print anything when a print job is sent to it.
The Printer Has Low or No Ink
The ink levels displayed on the printer are only estimates, so they can sometimes be inaccurate. Try replacing your ink cartridges.
The Ink Cartridges Are Not Genuine HP

The Printer Is Printing Poor Quality Lettering
The printed pages have smudged ink, blurry lettering, tilted text, or other print quality problems.
The Ink Cartridges Are Not Genuine HP

Select Devices and Printers in the Windows Control Panel.
Find your HP printer in the list of printers. Select the appropriate printer model, then right-click on it. Confirm by clicking Yes in the pop-up window.
Do a print test.
If the above steps do not resolve your HP printer issue, try canceling all print jobs.
Cancel all print jobs on your HP printer:
Select Devices and Printers in the Windows Control Panel.
In the list of printers, find the correct HP type of printer. Right-click the correct printer model and select View printer from the drop-down list.
Open the Printer menu located at the top right and click Open as administrator from the drop-down menu.
Click the Printer menu at the top right once more, then select Cancel All Documents. A dialog window will open. You can edit all records in the print queue by clicking Yes.
Try to make a test print and see if your HP printer now works.
