Computer Screen Is Black
The Computer has power but the screen is black.
Faulty Computer Screen
To check if the computer screen is broken is to have access to an external monitor or a TV, something to display the would-be contents of the laptop on a different screen. If an image shows up on the external monitor your computer screen is bad and needs to be replaced.
Faulty RAM
Before replacing the RAM try a hard reset of the computer refer to this link for a guide on how to hard reset your HP computer. If the black screen persists it's a sign that RAM is bad. Consider replacing it with new RAM following this guide here. If RAM was recently replaced ensure that RAM is seated (plugged in) correctly referring to the guide as mentioned earlier.
Motherboard Issues
Random Start and shutoff of laptop, longer than usual loading times, Hardware and software often freezes, Blue screen errors, corrupted files, and Audio/Video failure.
Faulty Charging
Inspect both charging port and charging device. Make sure neither are damaged. If charging port is not in tact refer to the "ChargingPort2" link listed below in the Addition Information.
Computer Running Slow
The computer is acting sluggish, crashing, or slow app start-ups
Too many programs running
If the computer is running slow and is not as responsive this could be an indicator of too many programs running at once. upon start-up too many programs automatically open this can cause the computer to run very slow initially. learn how to disable start-up programs on Windows 11 at this link here.
Low storage
If the computer has been crashing and restarting spontaneously this could be an indicator that the computer storage is full, to check if the storage,
- Open File Explorer (the manila folder)
- click on This PC on the left side of the screen
- Under OS there should be a line of text that says "XXGB free of XXGB" This will show how much storage is left on the device.
If the storage is low consider deleting old files and programs that are no longer in use or have not been used recently. Alternatively, if you want a fresh start replace the eMMC on this device with this guide here.
Uninstalling Programs
If the computer is running slow another solution would be to uninstall unnecessary programs.
- Press the Windows Button on the bottom left
- click on settings
- Navigate to your System Settings
- Press Storage and delete your unnecessary files
There is an Option called Temporary Files which helps you pick out files you can delete that aren't in use, It is very convenient to delete once in a while.
Computer Audio Distorted
Computer outputs static-y or choppy audio from speakers
Out-of-date drivers
If there are audio problems such as no audio, ensure the computer is not muted. Divers could be out of date and need to be updated please visit this link to troubleshoot potential audio problems such as checking sound settings, fixing audio drivers, or turning off audio enhancements.
Faulty speakers
If the speakers sound tinny, static-y, or otherwise abnormal, this could be a sign that the speakers are starting to fail. You should check the device's warranty to ensure you can still get replacement parts for free. If the device is not under warranty check this guide here to replace the speakers.
