GE CARESCAPE R860 Troubleshooting

The display is on, but non-responsive to touch

Solution:

1. Verify that the screen lock is not On.
2. Check internal cables and connections.
3. Replace the Touch Controller Board.
4. Replace the Touch Bezel Assembly.

Green LED is indicating that the ventilator is on, but the display is not turning on and/or the ventilator is not performing the duty it should be

Solution:

1. Open the DU and ensure that the lithium coin cell at J17 on the main PCB is properly installed.
2. Replace the lithium coin cell at J17 on the main PCB.
3. Verify that the internal Flashcard at J10 on the main PCB is properly seated.
4.   Attempt to boot the system using a spare compact flash card and replace the card, if necessary.
5. Attempt to boot the system from the external Compact Flash card.
6. Replace the display unit main PCB

Cause of issue: Total Flow Sensor temperature is above 51°Celsius.

Things to note: Alarm condition is that the Total Flow Sensor temperature is above 51°C.

Solution:

1. Check inlet air temperature.
2. Use PC Service Application to check temperatures of Air and Total Flow sensors.
3. If the inlet air temp is NOT high, and if the temperature from Total Flow Sensor reports more than 9°C higher than the air sensor, replace Total Flow Sensor.
4. With an airflow of approximately 10 l/min, verify air and total flows are within 10% of each other.

Cause of issue:  Peak pressure measured by the airway module is below 3 cmH2O, and is also at least 5 cmH2O below the peak pressure measured by the ventilator.

Solution:

1. Verify tube connections at the D-lite sensor.
2. Replace the D-lite sensor and tubing.
3. Remove the neonatal flow sensor.
4. Set the Data Source to Ventilator.

Cause of issue: O 2 supply pressure and air supply pressure < 24.3 psi for more than 0.5   seconds.

Things to note: Continue 100% gas flow of whichever gas has a higher pressure value at the onset of the alarm; if both are equal, use 100% O2.

Solutions:

1. Check O 2 and Air supply pressures
2. Check/replace harness between sensor and VMB
3. Check the error log for reference voltage errors.
4. Check/replace VMB.
