If the Evercade EXP does not show lights turning, has no vibration, and the screen does not show any activity after holding the power button, try these steps to find a solution.
Fully Drained Battery or "Protection Lock" is Enabled
If the Evercade EXP is not turning on or will not fully charge, try these steps:
- First, try charging the Evercade EXP with well-known USB charger that has a minimum of 5 volts and 2 amperes minimum.
- Let the Evercade EXP charge for at least thirty to sixty minutes before powering on.
- If the device does not hold a charge after this time period, try changing the wall adapter.
- After allowing it to charge, do not unplug the device. While it is charging, hold the power button for twenty seconds. This will override the "Protection Lock" and force the device to wake up from the protection state.
If the device turns on after a long charging period, this could signify the battery is aging and needs replacing.
Frozen System/Firmware Crash
A frozen system or a firmware crash can be identified when the Evercade EXP was previously turned on and now appears dead. This can occur after an update, during sleep mode, or a cartridge swap. If any of these have occurred, try the following steps to attempt to rectify the complication.
- First, press and hold the power button for twenty to thirty minutes.
- Release the power button.
- Press the power button normally.
If this does not work, try the following steps:
- Plug the Evercade EXP into the charger.
- Hold the power button and volume up button for fifteen seconds.
These steps will force a low-level reboot of the system.
The Power Button is Dirty or Stuck
If the power button feels mushy, does not click, and only powers on when pressed firmly, try troubleshooting these steps:
- Blow compressed air around the power-on button (located on the top right of the Evercade EXP).
- Repeat this process on each side of the button.
If this does not work the button board switch replacement may be worn out and need replacement. Follow this guide to replace the button.
