Equity 13014 Troubleshooting

My alarm does not go off when the battery is installed.

Check to make sure alarm clock battery connections are properly connected and in working order by following these directions:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment.

Check to make sure that (+) and (-) polarity connections on the battery are matched to the (+) and (-) polarity connections within the battery compartment. Re-install original (1) "AA" battery.

Replace black battery compartment cover onto back of alarm clock by gently pushing inward with your hand.

Clean the battery compartment polarity connections by following these directions:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Clean battery contacts inside the battery compartment by using a small emery board to clean (+) and (-) polarity connections.

Replace (1) "AA" battery into battery compartment making sure that (+) and (-) polarity connections on the battery are matching to the (+) and (-) polarity connections within the battery compartment. Replace black battery compartment cover onto back of alarm clock by gently pushing inward with your hand.

I have cleaned the (+) and (-) polarity connections and my alarm clock is still not working.

Replace the alarm clock battery by following these directions:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA"battery located within battery compartment. Set used battery aside to later return to an authorized recycling dept.

Replace used (1) "AA" battery with a new (1) "AA" battery into battery compartment making sure that (+) and (-) polarity connections on the battery are matching to the (+) and (-) polarity connections within the battery compartment. Replace black battery compartment cover onto back of alarm clock by gently pushing inward with your hand.

I have installed a new (1) "AA" battery, but the alarm is still not working.

Follow these directions on how to properly set the alarm:

Locate alarm set knob above the battery compartment. This is located on right side of time set knob. Turn alarm set knob in direction of arrow indicator to desired alarm time.

Make sure that alarm hand has been set to appropriate alarm wake time. Turn alarm ON by sliding alarm switch on back of alarm clock to ON position which is indicated by the picture of the bell.

If the previous directions do not fix the issue, the alarm switch may need to be replaced.

Follow these directions on replacing the alarm switch:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the three small silver screws located at the top and both sides of the back cover using the #1 Phillips screwdriver which is in the iFixit toolkit. Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover. Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the two small silver screws located at the top and bottom of the alarm switch.

Using a soldering iron, detach yellow wire end from the copper cylinder component by placing the end of the soldering iron to the bare end of the wire. After detaching the wires from the alarm switch box, replace the alarm switch with your new replacement alarm switch by reversing the previous steps.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, replace the two small silver screws located on the top and bottom of the alarm switch. Replace the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently placing it within the gold metal casing of the alarm clock. Line up the screw holes with the holes on the black cover. Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, replace the three small silver screws on the back cover.

I have replaced the alarm switch, but the alarm is still failing to go off.

Follow these directions to replace the alarm wiring box:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the three small silver screws located at the top and both sides of the back cover using the #1 Phillips screwdriver which is in the iFixit toolkit. Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover. Locate the alarm the wiring box which is identified as an opaque wiring box.

Using the spudger ,which is provided in the iFixit toolkit, or a prying tool, insert the flat end of the spudger on both sides of the wiring box to open and detach the box from the clock's main component. Gently remove the wiring box by gently lifting upward. Detach the yellow wires that connect the wiring to the battery compartment and the copper cylinder by using a soldering iron.

Repeat the above steps in reverse order to reassemble the alarm clock.

My alarm clock hands are coming off and are very loose.

Follow these directions to secure your alarm clock hands:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the three small silver screws located at the top and both sides of the back cover using the #1 Phillips screwdriver which is in the iFixit toolkit. Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover. Locate the copper cylindrical solenoid which is in the upper right hand side of the back of the clock.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the small silver screw located on the silver support holding the copper cylindrical solenoid in place. Gently remove the copper cylindrical solenoid by lifting upward.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the small silver screw located within the white post to the left of the copper cylindrical solenoid. Gently remove the bell hammer by threading it downward from oval opening on top of the clock.

Remove the legs from the alarm clock by using needle nose pliers to unscrew hex screws located on the top of each post of the legs. Using needle nose pliers, remove gold screw on top of right bell chime. Repeat this process with the left bell chime.

After removing both gold bell chimes, gently lift the gold bar that connects the two bell chimes. Set aside the bell chimes and the gold bar. Gently remove the entire black, inner apparatus of clock by lifting upward. Gently separate the outward gold casing of the alarm clock from the clear glass lens.

Turn the alarm clock lower component over so that the alarm clock hands are facing you. With a pair of needle nose pliers, tighten the alarm clock hands. If alarm clock hands are still loose, be sure that hands are free of any grease and apply a drop of screw locking compound or superglue to the clock hands.

If the above steps do not resolve the problem, alarm clock hands will need to be replaced.

Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover. Locate the copper cylindrical solenoid which is in the upper right hand side of the back of the clock.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the small silver screw located on the silver support holding the copper cylindrical solenoid in place. Gently remove the copper cylindrical solenoid by lifting upward.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the small silver screw located within the white post to the left of the copper cylindrical solenoid. Gently remove the bell hammer by threading it downward from oval opening on top of the clock.

Remove the legs from the alarm clock by using needle nose pliers to unscrew hex screws located on the top of each post of the legs. Using needle nose pliers, remove gold screw on top of right bell chime. Repeat this process with the left bell chime.

After removing both gold bell chimes, gently lift the gold bar that connects the two bell chimes. Set aside the bell chimes and the gold bar.

Gently remove the entire black, inner apparatus of clock by lifting upward. Gently separate the outward gold casing of the alarm clock from the clear glass lens.

Turn the alarm clock lower component over so that the alarm clock hands are facing you. Using needle nose pliers, gently lift the alarm clock hands from the center post located on the face of the alarm clock.

After replacement of the alarm clock hands, repeat steps above in reverse order to reassemble the alarm clock.

My alarm and time setting knobs are not turning the alarm clock hands.

Follow these directions to replace the alarm and time setting knobs:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the three small silver screws located at the top and both sides of the back cover using the #1 Phillips screwdriver which is in the iFixit toolkit. Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover.

The alarm and time setting knobs are identified as black posts attached to an opaque wiring box, which is located towards the upper center of the inside of the alarm clock. Remove the wiring box by gently pulling upward.

After replacement of the wiring box, repeat steps above in reverse order to reassemble the alarm clock.

My clock bell hammer fails to strike the two bells on top of my alarm clock.

Follow these directions to replace the clock strike bell hammer:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the three small silver screws located at the top and both sides of the back cover using the #1 Phillips screwdriver which is in the iFixit toolkit. Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover. Locate the copper cylindrical solenoid which is in the upper right hand side of the back of the clock.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the small silver screw located on the silver support holding the copper cylindrical solenoid in place. Gently remove the copper cylindrical solenoid by lifting upward.

Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the small silver screw located within the white post to the left of the copper cylindrical solenoid. Gently remove the bell hammer by threading it downward from oval opening on top of the clock.

After replacement of the clock strike bell hammer, repeat steps above in reverse order to reassemble the alarm clock.

My alarm clock tips over when in use.

Make sure that your alarm clock is resting on both of its legs on a flat surface.

My alarm clock is resting on a flat surface, but is still tipping over when in use.

Follow these directions on how to properly tighten your alarm clock legs:

Using a standard flat head screwdriver, remove the black battery compartment cover, which is located on the back of the alarm clock towards the bottom between the alarm clock legs by lifting gently on tab with the screwdriver. Remove (1) "AA" battery from the battery compartment. Set battery aside.

Remove the three small silver screws located at the top and both sides of the back cover using the #1 Phillips screwdriver which is in the iFixit toolkit. Remove the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently pulling upward being careful not to disconnect the wires which are attached to the back cover.

Locate each alarm clock leg hex screw which are located on the top of each post of the alarm clock's legs towards the bottom of the alarm clock. Using needle nose pliers, tighten hex screw onto post of right alarm clock leg. Using needle nose pliers. tighten hex screw onto post of left alarm clock leg.

Replace the black back cover of the alarm clock by gently placing it within the gold metal casing of the alarm clock. Line up the screw holes with the holes on the black cover. Using the #1 Phillips screwdriver, replace the three small silver screws on the back cover.
