Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues
Loss of Wi-Fi Connectivity
Check your Wi-Fi signal if your speed or connectivity is slow. If there are one or less signal bars displaying on your tablet screen, this implies that you have a low connectivity. If there are four or five bars of signal on your screen display, this implies that you have a high connectivity.
Wi-Fi won’t connect at all
If you run into this problem, then try to connect to the static IP address instead of the DNS (Domain Name System). Set up your tablet to connect with your router using a Static IP that is outside the range of IP addresses your router assigns using DNS. You will need to go into your router’s firmware to see the range of address assigned using DNS and assign one to the tablet outside of that range.
4.4.2 Android KitKat System Update Problems
The Android’s system 4.4.2 KitKat System Update may interfere with some of your apps, settings, and interface which may result in some malfunction with the Wi-Fi connectivity.
1. Go to settings and select Location, into Mode
2. Select High Accuracy
3. Return to Settings, and press Wi-Fi, into advanced (which can be found in the menu by tapping the button on the top right)
4. Uncheck Wi-Fi Optimization
Screen Not Displaying
Tablet Won’t Start
You should try to hold the on/off power button, located on the top of the device.
1. Press and hold the Volume Up button, which is located closest to the touchscreen lock switch.
2. While holding the volume up button, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds then release it.
3. Continue holding the Volume up button until the tablet screen turns on
Contact Acer support if it still won’t turn on.
Black Screen
Hold your power button to see if it will turn on. If it is vibrating and does nothing, charge it for a few hours or overnight. Test the power button again and if it still doesn’t turn on, contact your local Acer service center
When Waking from Sleep Mode
After you wake it up from sleep mode, restart the tablet to reactivate the touchscreen. This problem may occur when sleeping on the device overnight.
Screen Flickering
If your screen is flickering, you may want to do a factory reset. If it is still flickering, you may want to contact your local Acer service center.
Screen Sensitivity Problems
The Screen will not respond to my touch.
Low Sensitivity
If you need to press too firmly to start apps or drag them around, you may want to purchase a stylus to increase the sensitivity with ease.
Screen is Unresponsive with “Touch and Hold”
Check “Settings”, then “Accessibility” to make sure you have a “short” touch setting selected.
Update the device
You may want to update the device since the system’s updates can resolve and fix this issue. If updates are not available on your device, restart your device to refresh.
Android Update Problems
The updates are giving me a rough time.
Use an Older Version of Android
If the update you are using is not cooperating, you can always get rid of the current update and use an older one.
Sound Problem
If you are experiencing Sound issues with all music players from the KitKat update, downgrade the update to the previous one.
Cannot get Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update
If you are unable to update your system to the recent one, it may be unavailable in your country at this time, so be patient for now until it is released.
Camera Icon Response
The camera button isn’t functioning or it’s unresponsive on my screen.
Factory Reset
If the camera icon on the screen isn’t working properly, perform a factory reset. This resets your whole device and allows you to start fresh. This will wipe your locally stored data, so backup any information you do not wish to permanently lose.
- To perform a factory reset, follow these steps:
- Power off your device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button, which is located closest to the touchscreen lock switch.
- While holding up the Volume up button, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds then release it.
- Continue holding the volume up button until the device turns on.
- On the Android System recovery screen, select Wipe data/factory reset.
- Use the volume up and Volume down keys to navigate through the menus and use the power button to select the desired option.
- When prompted to “confirm wipe of all user data”, select yes – delete all user data. Finally select reboot system now.
Once your device reboots to the Welcome screen, follow the onscreen steps to setup your device.

It keeps asking for the original owners name, my grandson, 8, who google shut his email down when they saw his age.
So, no luck getting past that little misstep.
Any ideas? I've run out of solutions.

Hello,
I have iconia acer android tablet . Was working all right so far. Suddenly, at opening I start getting message “optimizing 1 app of 1”, and tablet freezes for an hour. I was told that it’s a corrupted app. Since I didn’t what app it was, I was recommended to uninstall updates to factory reset. Android now opens all right. But now adobe digital editions 4.5.10 either doesn’t recognize new books (downloaded to pc, then transferred to ade on android) or doesn’t open. RTried to contact adobe, they say it’s acer android tablet’s issue.
How to fix that?
Thank you in advance.

My tablet has a problem. It is in a state where it is completely powered off, yet when I tried to power on, the start-up screen shows for about a second, then goes black again for about 3-5 seconds. This has been happening for about an hour now, and so far, none of the buttons do anything. Please help!

I have tried the suggestions on this thread, as I seem to have a similar problem.
My hitch when I turn on my Acer 850 Android tablet is:
Acer Logo.
Message: Optimising Apps.
Message: Starting Apps.
Then instead of showing my opening screen, it regenerates the Acer logo, optimising
and starting the apps again, in an endless loop. I have let the battery run down for
24 hours and done a factory reset, before charging it for a further day. Tried a
reboot today but no success. When I use the pin hole below the volume key to turn
it off, the screen blanks for a few seconds, before starting the loop all over again, as
if possessed! Any ideas? I'm at my wits end and don't know where to go.
