Audio is Not Working
There is no sound coming from your tablet when there should be.
Headset is Plugged In
If the headset is plugged into the device, the speaker is automatically shut off. Simply disconnect the headset to enable the speaker again.
Device Volume is Muted/Low
Check that the device volume setting is not muted or at its lowest setting. Simply turn up the volume as you see fit.
Speaker is Broken
In rare cases your tablet's speaker may have broken and would need replacement in order for your device's audio to work.
Power or Volume Up/Down Buttons Do Not Work
The power or volume buttons aren’t working as they should.
Buttons Are Sticky
The buttons may feel different when pressing on them. This could be the result of residue buildup in the switch or around the actuator (the part you press). This could also rarely be the result of the switch spring failing and may need replacement.
Tablet is Not On
The volume buttons will not function if the tablet is not turned on. Holding in the power button should turn on the tablet if this is the case.
Device Won't Turn On
No matter what you do, you can't get your tablet to turn on.
Tablet is Not Charged
Your tablet may not be fully charged. Your Acer Iconia A1-830 should have come with a battery charger, but any micro USB charger should work. To charge your device slide the large end of your USB cable into your battery charger's body. Then connect the power connector to your tablet and plug the AC adapter side into any AC outlet. There should be some indication that the battery has begun the charging process. Typically the screen's backlight will turn on and an indicator depicting the battery’s current health will be displayed on screen.
Faulty Charger
If you suspect that the tablet is not charging while plugged into your USB charging adapter, make sure the outlet the adapter is plugged into is working. If you are sure the USB charging adapter is plugged into a working outlet, and the tablet is still not charging, try using another compatible USB charging adapter on the outlet. If your device is now charging with the new adapter, your original adapter is most likely broken.
Faulty Battery
If you connect the charging cable to your tablet, and there is some indication that the battery “wants to charge,” but the tablet still does not turn on, the battery might be corrupted, or degraded to the point of failure. To be absolutely certain whether this is true, follow these steps.
- Make sure you are using a working AC power outlet preferably a wall outlet.
- Make sure the charging adapter you are using is working properly and is compatible with the tablet (check the voltage & current rating).
- Plug the tablet into the charging adapter.
- Next, plug in the adapter into your AC power outlet.
- Observe the tablet’s behavior when plugging it in.
- If the screen flashes on for a moment, but then shuts off again, the screen isn’t broken internally, but the motherboard or the battery may be corrupted.
- If the screen flashes on and shows the Acer logo, the battery is now charging.
- If there is no indication that anything is happening, the issue could be the screen itself.
- The tablet should become warm under normal conditions after being plugged in. This indicates that the battery is functional and is charging.
Faulty Motherboard
If you are certain that your charging adapter works, but you are not certain about the battery’s condition because there is no indication of the charging process, it may be possible that your tablet's internal motherboard would need to be replaced.
Screen Sensitivity Issues
There is little or no response when I try to touch the screen of my device.
Screen or Digitizer is Damaged
If your device's screen is damaged your device's digitizer, which tracks the movement of your fingers, is most likely damaged as well. You will most likely have to replace your device's screen and digitizer.
It is possible that your device's digitizer may be damaged even if your glass screen is not. Power off your device and look for any cracks under the screen surface. If any such cracks are found, your digitizer is damaged and will need to be replaced.
Screen is Frozen
Your screen may not be responding to touch because it is frozen.
Power off your device and wait 30 seconds before powering it back on. The screen should light up and be unfrozen. Your device should now respond to touch again.
Device is Slow
Your tablet is running slower than usual.
Storage is Full
To verify the amount of storage available go to Settings > Storage.
If the storage is full, you may delete media files or move them to your SD card to free up storage space.
You may also uninstall apps in order to recover storage space.
Go to Settings > Apps, then tap the app you want to uninstall and finally tap Uninstall.
Too Many Apps Running
You may have too many apps running causing your device to run sluggishly.
To view your running apps go to Settings > Apps and swipe over to Running.
To stop a running app, tap the app you want to stop and then tap Stop.
