Distorted sound quality
Speaker is making a crackling/static noise whenever music is played
Blocked Radio Signal
Ensure that there are no large objects in between the speaker and the connected smartphone device; remove large objects to ensure a strong radio signal. For best sound quality, it is recommended keeping your speaker and connected smartphone device within 10 meters (33 feet) of each other.
External Speaker in Poor Condition
Ensure your speaker is clean. If you’re using your speaker near sand, salt water, or the pool, make sure the speaker is free of debris or residue; rinse device with freshwater.
Internal Speaker Head Damaged
If there is no sound improvement after cleaning the external panels of the speaker, please refer to the speaker head replacement guide.
Device won't pair with smartphone
The speaker is unable to locate and connect to a nearby smartphone device
Lansing App Not Updated
Ensure your smartphone device has the most up-to-date version of the “Altec Lansing VersA Bridge” app downloaded. Ensure that the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi settings on your smartphone device are switched on, and Wi-Fi is connected to a local network.
Device Isn't Paired
To pair your device via Bluetooth first you must power on your device (speaker should flash red/blue once on). Then from the Bluetooth Manager section of your smartphone, turn Bluetooth on, and select your device from the menu.
Device fails to connect to Wi-Fi / Bluetooth
The speaker is unable to locate a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal
Bluetooth Connection
Ensure that both your speaker and smartphone device are turned on and in Bluetooth discoverable mode. To activate Bluetooth on your smartphone device, go to your phone’s settings , select Bluetooth , and turn on. To activate Bluetooth on your speaker, press the power button to turn the speaker on. Press and hold the Bluetooth button located on the side of the speaker to turn on Bluetooth discoverable mode. When in discoverable mode, your speaker should emit a blinking blue light. From your smartphone device, select “VersA Speaker” from the list of available devices under Bluetooth settings. Once your speaker has successfully connected to your smartphone device, the speaker will stop flashing and will emit a still blue light.
Device is already paired to a different smartphone
Ensure that your speaker is not already connected to another smartphone device; the speaker may only be connected to one smartphone at a time. If the speaker is already connected to another smartphone device via Bluetooth, the center of the speaker will emit a still blue light. To connect with another smartphone device, disconnect the device from the connected smartphone and retry pairing.
Faulty Connection
If your speaker is still unable to connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth, perform a system restart. To perform a system restart, press and hold both the volume up and volume down buttons located on top of the speaker for 5-7 seconds. This will return the speaker to its original factory setting.
Wi-Fi Connection
Ensure that both your speaker and smartphone device are turned on, and your phone’s Wi-Fi setting is on and connected to a local network. To turn on the Wi-Fi connection from your speaker, shortly press the Bluetooth button located on the side of the speaker. This will change your speaker from Bluetooth mode to Wi-Fi mode. Once in Wi-Fi mode, press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds to turn on Wi-Fi discoverable mode. When in discoverable mode, your speaker should emit a blinking white light. From your smartphone’s home screen, open the “Altec Lansing VersA Bridge” app. From the app’s main menu, select “Set Up New Speaker”. Select “VersA Speaker” from the list of available devices. Once your speaker has successfully connected to Wi-Fi, the speaker will stop flashing and emit a still white light.

Internal Malfunction
If the speaker’s volume and/or power buttons are still unresponsive, there may be something wrong internally with the speaker. To disassemble your Altec Lansing VersA device to replace the daughterboards associated with the volume and power buttons please refer to the bluetooth board replacement guide for the power button, and the volume button board replacement guide for the volume buttons.
Voice Recognition Failure
Speaker's voice recognition will not recognize voice commands

Ensure your smartphone device has the most up-to-date version of the following apps:
- Altec Lansing VersA Bridge
- Amazon Alexa
Ensure that your speaker is powered on, and both the speaker and smartphone device are connected to a Wi-Fi network. From your smartphone’s home screen, open the Altec Lansing VersA Bridge. From the app’s main menu, select “Alexa Voice Services”. You will be prompted to log into your Amazon account or create a new one. After logging in to your Amazon account, you will be prompted back to the Altec Lansing VersA Bridge app. From the app’s main menu, select “Set Up New Speaker”. Select “VersA Speaker” from the list of available devices. Once connected to a Wi-Fi network and the Altec Lansing VersA Bridge app, your speaker will emit a still white light.
To turn on the speaker’s microphone, shortly press the Multi Mode Button located on the side of the speaker. When the microphone is turned on, the top light ring will emit a still, red light. Once the microphone is turned on, press and hold to talk to the speaker.
Device fails to charge
The speaker is not recognizing the charger or is not holding a charge
Malfunctioning power cord / power source
Assure the micro USB cable is still in working order. Try different power outlets to make sure it isn’t a power issue. Try replacing your cable. If none of these options solve your charging issue, see below.
Faulty micro USB port
If there is no improvement in charging after changing outlets or cables there may be an issue with the micro USB port itself. Please refer to the micro USB port replacement guide.

I keep getting the audible message, ‘please use mobile phone for wifi configuration ‘, when trying to set up the camera, which I have tried dozens of times. Used reset button and still it will not configure. It has not configured since pulling it from the box.
