Background
The Samsung Galaxy S21 was announced at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event on January 14, 2021 and released on January 29, 2021, alongside the Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The Galaxy S21 started at $799 and came in Phantom Violet, Phantom Gray, Phantom White, and Phantom Pink.
Compared to the Galaxy S20, the S21 kept a 6.2-inch 120 Hz display but changed to a lower 2400 x 1080 resolution and a plastic rear cover. The plastic rear cover makes back-cover removal less fragile than on a glass-backed phone, though adhesive still secures the rear camera cover and back cover.
Internally, the Galaxy S21 differs from the Galaxy S20 in several repair-relevant areas. The vibration motor moved near the upper-left corner between the motherboard and frame edge, and the upper midframe holds the motherboard, camera assembly, and one 5G antenna in place. Accessing those parts requires removing the upper midframe.
