Since graduating high school, I had my heart set on becoming a pediatrician. I had my plan set, graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science, take the MCAT, take a year off school to gain experience in the medical field, and then apply to and get into medical school. But once I began working in the medical field, I held positions in St. Jude, Lebonhuer, even volunteered at nonprofit free clinics and I noticed I wasn’t cut out to become a doctor because it takes a great toll on you mentally. So, there I was plans rendered useless and totally lost. I took the next couple of years trying to figure out what I was passionate about and willing to spend the rest of my life doing for work. During those two years I began looking into real estate and specifically developing new projects. Through trial and error I was able to develop multiple projects including lot subdivisions, commercial properties, and currently working on an small scale 33 unit apartment complex. I was drawn into the field because I loved the challenges I faced during the development process, loved the open creativity and being able to express oneself through buildings. That’s how I ended up at the University of Memphis, currently a sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction.
