An iMac with a 1 TB SSD

The 2016 iMac 1TB fusion drive was a bit disappointing speed-wise. I decided to swap the 1TB spinning drive for a 1 TB SSD.

Repair went very well without much hassle. The trickiest part was peeling the display off the lower adhesive strip.

After initially attaching the display again with new adhesive strips, there was a 1 mm gap between the bottom of the display and the lower bezel. The display settled down after about a day and the gap went away.

After swapping to new drive, some people complain of increased fan noise, maybe due to the new drive not having a temperature sensor. I haven't noticed any extra fan noise. The computer is still silent.
